Do you think a woman's sexual desire increases as she gets older?

My mom was almost 50 years old and she had a very vibrant sex life. She was able to find a much younger guy and she was able to satisfy him sexually. She even managed get pregnant from her. I don't think she ever showed such a performance in the previous years when she was with my dad !

What's your take on this? Is this person specific or people started to live longer so 40-50 is not old for those kind of things anymore?

  • I think that we become more uh... tuned in... to what exactly it is that makes our bodies feel pleasure. And not only the mechanical things, but most especially we learn about the specific thoughts and emotions that are most helpful in moving us toward arousal.

So, do hormonal changes over the years contribute to sexual desire?
    Maybe.
For me though, I think that that it has more to do with practice. I have lived in this body long enough now to know what pushes it's arousal buttons.
I don't know if that makes any sense...

    • Thanks for the MHO!

  • I'm heading towards 50 and it seems like there's no slowing me down. My high sex drive has been holding steady for so long now. I owe this euphoria to a wonderful man of equal motivation, who is "gifted" :), has smooth moves & is incredibly attractive.

  • It varies considerably. There are a lot of older women who have lost their inhibitions and have high drives. There are a lot of older women whose drive has completely gone.

Mature women who are active in the dating market are a biased group. The lower drive older women are either married or often not dating much.

  • I think the answer is yes based on the word "nymphomaniac".

It's used on women and usually older ones. So I think society recognizes such women as common.

And I think as long as the woman had enough orgasmic sex, she would become a nympho.

  • I do think a woman's sex drive increase as she get older. I am
    46. My sex drive increase. But, I like men my age and older. It's kind of hard to find in Des Moines, Iowa

    • My mom had an abortion at the age of 46.

    • @Samantha_17 thats something quite daring.

  • I think as women near the menaphose age the desires increase. This would vary from person to person and genetic history has a lot to do with it as well. Well i think in my opinion as the thought of death and old age creeps into their thoughts the desire to do the things they wanted to do and experience they things they always wanted too. So thus becoming more adventurous in the bedroom. If i were that old and i had a younger gorgeous man in my bed I would wear out that sucker before he realises I'm too old for him.

  • I think it is from what I have seen. I am still a teen so I wouldn't know personally, of course. It definitely is with my mother, aunts and cousins. It is very common here for women in their 40's and 50's to have young lovers in their 20's and teens. They need someone with lots of stamina. 😆. I know that in western countries, it is mostly the opposite, with older men chasing much younger women.

  • No question I have become more sexual with age. I am constantly horny! lol. I think its because I have become more confident and comfortable in my own skin as I got older.

  • I think it varies from women to women. Some women have high sex drives at different ages. Some women have low sex drives at different ages.

  • It is different for different women.

  • I think it depends on a woman and her hormones no matter what age

  • I think this is situational. If her partner is good in bed than yes, I could see why she wants more so she doesn’t really have anything to do with it unless you’re transitioning from a child to a teen 😂

  • It is complex. Women want to feel wanted. That's easy to feel when you are 18 and guys are constantly hitting on you; almost a nuisance at times. As you get older, fewer and fewer guys hit on you. I can only imagine that it getting hit on would be pretty rare by the time you are 60. So you start wanting the attention more. You desire things more when you don't get it as much. Just imagine how much you would desire a drink of water if didn't get any for two days straight.

  • I think as long as you’re in love you’ll have a good sex drive with your SO.

    • Yep, good answer :)

  • The experience of one woman cannot be generalised to all women.
Generally, sexual desire decreases with age for both men and women. However, healthy men and women can maintain a high degree of sexual desire to the very end of their lives.

  • I think women love themselves more and become more confident with experience so in that sense, yes?

  • I don't think it changes with age that much, or not for me (I'm only 33 tho).

  • My mother is still very sexually active so I doubt it declines as you age. Judging by the number of over 40 women out looking for sex I think your theory might be true.

  • I think it can increase or decrease as a woman gets older. Sometimes a decrease could be from a problem or because of a medication that's taken. But you can have sex at any age whether it's early 20s to 60+ years. old. I've heard pretty similar things from people who are 30-50 and they say they have pretty good sexual lives too. But I also think eating healthy can help in a way with it.

  • I've heard about this, and it might be true. Or maybe being with this man increased her sex drive.

  • Mine has... I can't speak for other women !!!

I feel secure both in my body and with my partner and as a result, enjoy it more.

  • I have no idea. I think it’s different for everyone...

  • I think it depends on the female. I know some woman around my age that still can't get enough sex. I have found after a hysterectomy, mine has gone down. I few of my friends have experienced the same.. I still enjoy sex.

  • Yes, women peak later. Probably differs between individuals though.
