Something else to note though, porn is partly to blame, it's filmed in such a way as to make the guys cock appear larger than it is, which can lead to feelings of inadequacy among men that watch it.

Believe it or not, it is rooted in evolutionary instinct. Primitive human males were looking to attract and impregnate as many females as possible. (It is how the species has survived several hundred thousand years.) The female was looking for an alpha male who could sire healthy babies, find food for mom and baby and ward off rival males and predators.

One of the ways a male attracted females was an erect penis. Instinctively the female saw that the male was ready to mate and the penis size was suggestive of the male's healthy sperm. In nature, these were indicators.

Suffice to say, for males that instinct remains. It is why you have the gym locker room scene where guys are secretly comparing themselves to other guys while trying to look like they are not. It is the male's natural instinct to compete with other males for females. It is not a logical process, but instinct.

Not just for men, by the way. A study was done - I believe it was by the Kinsey Institute though I might be wrong - in which women were showed photos of naked men, some with erections, some not. The women were then asked who the better looking men were.

It was not even a close call, the men with erections were overwhelmingly selected. The women were instinctively reacting to the male "display" and their sexual instincts led them to assume that the erect guys were better looking.

So men are not entirely without reason worrying about penis size. Of course, we are more than the sum of our instincts, and penis size is not remotely related to the connections that indicate a healthy relationship. In that sense, some guys can be pretty silly about the whole topic.

Still, it is not entirely arbitrary. As the (I believe it was Kinsey) study showed, penis size - especially an erect penis - still does play a part in a man's ability to attract females.

It’s actually quite stupid. If guys actually paid attention they would know that a huge penis can actually be turn off for a lot of women. It actually hurts, or becomes uncomfortable for her.

Average, or around average, is where a guy wants to be. Having more can become a problem, for her. But, he can have bragging rights to his pals.

The only thing that has ever made me insecure is the size of dildo women tend to choose. If you go on a sex toy website, try and find any dildo that's considered average male penis size. The top sellers are all 8 inches with the smallest being 6. Anything smaller is a vibrator. Because of Porn, the majority of guys in porn have large penises, the majority of men in general are between 5-6 inches. Honest to God, I haven't a clue - By the time you have taken off your pants surely you are past the any issues like "OMG you are too X/Y/Z", it is not like you can do anything about, you can learn to be a better lover, a more confident person but your penis is still the same size as when you were a spotty virgin. Some women are immature about it and basically humiliate a guy if he doesn't meet par with her expectations or the general average penis size, or she won't want sex with you at all. Also, a penis size is associated with higher testosterone the larger the penis.
