  • Nope, I have always used condoms, never had the problem of my partner refusing to use them. Though my mom had and I thinkstill has a IUD an my aunt tried to get a IUD.

The case of my mom is that when she was near her 50's and getting nearest to menopause, her menstruation would get worse, she would bleed too much causing her trouble. So gynecologist would put a IUD that released hormones in such way she would stop having menstruation or at least she would not bleed more than 2 or 3 drops. She's comfy with it she has no problem and she doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. However she's not using it for birth control, and I think she doesn't trust it for birth control. I believe I heard she once said that she and my father were still using condoms despite the IUD.

In case of my aunt the problem is that she wants the IUD so she can forget about menstruation, as she's in her mid to late 40's, has three kids and don't want to be mom again. But in her case the problem is that the IUD don't stay in, and days after the gynecologist puts it inside it comes out. It has happened to her at least the three times she has tried.

Those are the only experiences I know related to IUD.

    • My mom had also begun using IUD after having the abortion at the age of 46.

  • I have the Mirena IUD and I love it. The first two months were really crappy but now I no longer get a period and my PMSing has basically stopped too. I recommend it for everyone.

    • Thank you :)

    • What? That is normal that you dont have period anymore?

    • @kim45456 roughly 20% of women stop getting their period altogether. I’d encourage you to read up on statistics. There’s also no way to know if your period will stop until you get the IUD. I totally thought I would still get mine because mine is somewhat heavy so it just depends on the person.

  • I domt use birth control. And I find those things dangerous theu don't belong in the female body.

  • Thanks for inviting me lol, but I have no idea what that is

    • It is a small device placed in uterus in order to prevent pregnancy.

  • Okay, Ladies. I just went to the doctor two days ago and talked about IUDs. Here's some things I found out:
    * Last 5 years
    * They're progestin only - no estrogen. Progestin is linked to higher sex drive, more acne, but not weight gain or moodiness
    * The main benefit is the drug is localized, it does not go through you entire system, which is healthier for you.
    * She said no on infections, "not an issue".
    * After it's medically put it, will have to go back after 1 month and they do an ultrasound to recheck positioning.
    * Should end all periods, though some very light spotting every month is common.
    * It is no problem for someone who has never had children.
That's all I can think of...
I'm not keen on putting any devices or hardware into my body. But it does have advantages over pills, with all their hormones.

    • Thanks for the valuable information :)

    • Np! Was amazing timing, literally.

  • Yes loved it n swear by it. Did 6 years on it no probs. It was only supposed tobe in five years tho. N NO PERIODS YAY

  • No, I used pills (do not recommend - they made me stupid and led to terrible decisions).

I am childfree and a bit over a year ago got a bilateral salpingectomy (removal of the fallopian tubes - basically irreversible vasectomy for women).

In and out of hospital in 5 hours, able to walk just fine, only took a single pain pill, back in jeans and at the gym in two weeks.

I highly recommend a bilateral salpingectomy to anyone with a uterus seeking permanent sterilization.

  • I use an IUD. It's great, as I am rotten at remembering to take pills!!!

  • no I have not, I don't like these, but I supposed women should choose something safe for themselves if they must. are these safe? I don't know, I'm sorry

    • Good so far. My boyfriend can fuck me without a condom :)

    • yes because I suppose skin on skin is always better

    • Better, yes. We both like bareback fucking.

  • I have not

  • Girls say it works good...

  • No and I never will.

    • Any specific reason?

    • Yes. Many people I know have had bad experiences with it and even long term complications with it.

    • I did hear things too yet I decided to go for it. No complications so far.

  • yikes. double yikes. triple yikes. sorry. couldn't do it. yikes.

  • No, but I have a relative who used it. She complained of the frequent pain in her tummy area after it was inserted and there's even once when she was rushed to the A&E department cos of bleeding due to the IUD.
I read a pamphlet in our local hospital that says that they need to go back at least once a year to check that the IUD is still properly placed there. I think it could be dangerous if we accidentally fell down and hit the tummy if there's IUD inside

    • Make sure not to let your tummy area bump into anything if you really wanted to have it.

    • Thanks :)

    • @Cheryl_Sim, No danger if you fall. The reason theyhave to check to make dure it positioned still is because people do crazy shit for sex... Such as fisting. People have pulled them out which is very painful if not dobe properly by a trained professional...

  • Yes copper

  • Nope

  • Nope. I use the patch

  • I have Mirena currently and I’ve had it in for 4 years. It’s been great. No pregnancy scares, persons aren’t bad and are relatively light. I don’t have any complaints but I know it’s different for everyone. Expect spotting for a few months. That gets annoying when you just get it put in!

  • Not a girl, but my wife got one for her endometreosis. I know that it was absolute pain and floored her for the rest of the day. It also threw off her period and made her irregular the entire time she had it in.

Then they couldn't find it to remove it when the time was up. They weren't sure if it fell out (its not uncommon - scary thought if you don't want kids), or if the string went up into her uterus. She had to get some sort of procedure, then a surgery to remove it. She wound up going for the injection after that. Doesn't last as long (I think its 3 years), but she's been much better on it.

  • I use the birth control injections I've used the implant in the past to try and control my periods but it didn't work so I'm trying this method now... I have really bad periods after being checked by a doctor and gynecologist they said everything is fine the don't understand why I have this issue

  • Nope, my mom doesn’t allow me.

  • I have not. I used “the pill” for 10 years. Otherwise, condoms.
