  • There is not one singular correct answer to this question. In my experience, people usually associate loss of virginity with the vagina being penetrated by a penis. However, this definition is flawed because a very sexually active lesbian would still be defined as a virgin. You really need to know what definition of the word "virgin" you are using before you can say if someone is a virgin. Based on the definition I mentioned earlier, I think a girl could be considered a virgin even if she has been fingered.

Excluding rape, I would not consider rape to constitute losing virginity, because it wasn't the victim's choice to violate their own abstinence. To me the concept of virginity is about abstinence, not about technicalities. You know, a prostitute who *only* gives handjobs and blowjobs and still considers herself a virgin, that's a label based on technicality that I image would be meaningless to a vast majority of people. Same goes for lesbian and gay men who can have however many sexual partners throughout their life and still consider themselves virgins on a technicality (of not engaging in penetrative sex). It loses meaning at that point.
