Is it true that oral sex is not really sex?

Why do many people, especially teenagers, believe this is true?

Here's a link if you don't believe me...

US teenagers think oral sex isn't real sex

I was told that when Bill Clinton was caught with his pants down... literally! ... lol... that when he said publicly that he never had sex with Monica, he was being honest because only vaginal sex is really sex, anything else is not really sex, but instead is just merely playing around.

Has this been turned into a trick that teen boys are using to get a blow job from a girl or teen girls to get cunnilingus from a boy without the risk of getting pregnant? ... or even with same sex experiences?

Is there a legitimate argument for that reasoning?
Is it true that oral sex is not really sex?
A. That is ridiculous, any gentials that are stimulated, especially to orgasm, is having sex

Is it true that oral sex is not really sex?
B. No, technically that is true, as real sex is vaginal intercourse only, since that is the only way to get a girl pregnant, anything else is not really sex in the truest sense of the word

C. Yes! I think teen boys are convincing girls that oral sex is not really sex so that they will not feel guilty about giving them what they want

D. No, don't blame just the guys, the girls are equally eager sometimes to experiment with sexual experiences and will go along with this reasoning because they want to

  • The term oral sex includes the word sex. Therefore, it is a sexual activity.

The person who climaxes after having their sexual organ orally stimulated in the most intimate manner would certainly describe what just happened as good sex. But the act could be viewed as one sided since only one person's genitals were stimulated, similar to a hand job. So the question becomes, is touching considered sex?

It is unquestionably different from full sexual intercourse in which a woman's sexual organ is penetrated by the male's and both people's reproductive organs are fully engaged. This is much different from merely stimulating one person. And the main distinction is the possibility of pregnancy. After all, the biological purpose of intercourse is reproduction. But sex is also extremely enjoyable. The reason people engage in it is not merely to reproduce.

Then there is the issue of virginity. Some people, mainly on religious grounds, feel that female virginity is important. Girls are supposed to save their sacred little pussies for a husband. This made total sense before the advent of birth control. Nevertheless, the notion persists. So, as a consequence, aside from hand jobs, blowjobs and any form of touching short of vaginal penetration, some girls accede to anal sex all day long because it keeps their virginity intact and it assures that they won't accidentally get pregnant.

My opinion is that all these activities are forms of sex. But asking if they are "not really sex" begs the question: is there something wrong with engaging is sexual activity that isn't for the purpose of procreation? My answer would be an emphatic no. So what's the problem? There are physical and emotional benefits to having sex for sex sake. Why not enjoy it with gusto in all it's forms? Just be safe.

  • It all depends on whos opinion. I dont care if it is or isn't.. I love giving it!

  • Wikipedia defines sexuality as

"Human sexuality is the way people experience and express themselves sexually. This involves biological, erotic, physical, emotional, social, or spiritual feelings and behaviors. Because it is a broad term, which has varied over time, it lacks a precise definition".

Even specialists cannot fully agree when it comes to defining whether oral sex is considered as sex as per the definition of the dictionary.

However, given that a number of adults and teenagers practice that kind of intimacy as a starting experience to the full fledged penetrative sex, my opinion and view is that oral sex is an integral part of the act of being intimate with the partner, regardless of gender.

Regardless how you perceive it, if law places oral sex on the same level as penetrative sex when it comes to determining a sexual crime, and therefore, if the law states that oral sex, yes even mutual masturbation is a sexual act, then oral sex has my vote to be considered full fledged sex.

Isn't the most important about both acts to be pleasured and to enjoy it, regardless how you perceive it?

  • I may be wrong but I think oral sex (yes, I know it's in the name) does not come under the "sexual intercourse" label. I think I've read it somewhere (but my memory may just be playing tricks on me) that sex must include some form of penetration, be it vaginal or anal. And don't ask me about how sex between lesbians is considered sex then. I don't know. But basically, everything else can be termed sexual stimulation or "foreplay" or whatever other terms. I'm not too well-versed with that.

  • I think there is a bit of truth in every choice, but I believe A is the most correct. But it only counts if it is with another person. Pleasuring yourself is not having sex.

  • Too many options... who cares what you call it. It’s fun, so yeah!

    • Great answer! :)

    • Is the 4th pic down Charisma Carpenter from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? She looks like her.

    • @Daniela1982 Yes, I think that is her. I picked it because she has such a mischievous look on her face... lol

  • Society in 2019 would consider oral sex as sex. Perception of oral sex has changed since Bill Clinton and the porn industry makes sure to remind us that oral sex belongs in every relation.

  • I dontt consider it sex but i do believe its not supposed to be done before marriage either. However, I've still done it but often tried to wait closer to engagement back then before doing so.

    • Yeah i’m the same way

  • It's called Oral Sex for a reason! But a lot of guys don't think of it as sex so they can "legitimately" tell their Girlfriend that they haven't had sex with anyone but them.

  • It's only sex if you dont use condoms... I heard that once.

  • Oral sex is oral sex. Sex is sex.

    • Disagree. You put the word "sex" in oral sex and therefore you consider it as sex.

    • Lol disagree with what? I never said oral sex isn’t sex. It’s a type of sex. Bug off.

  • It's sex.

  • Orally speaking... We all know oral sex IS sex.

  • Oral sex is sex. But not just any stimulation of genitals is sex. So fingering or rubbing is not sex

  • Assuming that the female genitalia is out of the picture but the male genitalia is and it enters the female oral cavity, I consider that to be a sexual activity already.

  • I think most people are confusing sex with virginity. I'd argue that oral wouldn't be losing your virginity, but it would be considered sex.

That said virginity is a rather vague concept at the best of times when you take same sex couples into account.

  • It isn't sex

  • Since the only true purpose (other than reproduction) of having any kind of physical intimacy with a woman is to provide her with as much pleasure as possible, oral service must be considered sexual, if the male is successful in bringing her to climax.

  • It's a sex act

  • Not true.
I often prefer oral sex and outercourse to actual intercourse.

  • They believe it because they haven't been properly educated about sex. Oral sex is a type of sex.

  • Lol, the same way some girls say they are still virgins. Because they no longer like the guy that popped them, so it does not count.

Same way a friend of mine does not consider they have been married 2 times, even though they had gone threw the court to get divorced 2 times. Because the marriage did not last a year, in there mind that means they where not really married.

Oral sex, is sex. Try going court and telling a judge that I was not cheating, because I only had gave oral stimulation that lead to an orgasm and see if it is considered adultery or not.

  • There’s no point in arguing over words. Two things matter: STDs can be transmitted through oral sex but pregnancy is not possible.

I have no patience for the abstinence-only advocates. You can have STD outbreaks and pregnant girls or you can have healthy teens.
