Much like women calling other women manly, men calling other men girly, it can be playful to refer to others as something they are not. Like retard. To say it is "offensive" is ignoring nuance and the heart of the person saying it. You'd be giving it meaning that the person saying it didn't.

I don't get it as well to be honest, I'm ok with the LGBTQ group and some aren't, no one said they had to go against or support it but ignorant men or women (mostly men) only intend to barrage our intentions when we did nothing to hurt them in the first place.

It is often used to undermine or question a guys standing in a peer group, or to question his masculinity or behaviour. Often used as a jibe between friends.
Generally speaking, it's not really meant as a sexual slur.

I don't think gay people look at it that way I think it's straight people have a stigma that's being gay is bad so you think it means something bad when you hear it
