Do you think gay sex is nasty or an abomination as it says in the Bible?

Even before I became religious I thought homosexuality was very wrong and nasty.

If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.

    Yes, I do. Then again, I think anal sex between males and females is nasty. I also think naked men are nasty. This is why I don't engage in anal sex, nor do I engage in sex with men. However, I'm not about to force people's behavior simply because my personal opinion is that "Eww! That's nasty!"

    There is much I disagree about with the Bible, the foremost of which is the very existence of Yaweh.

    Now, do I think that because I think it's nasty, or because the Bible states it's an abomination, should I therefore hate and discriminate against gays? Absolutely not. Do I think the love and depth of emotions that gay men and women feel towards one another is nasty? Absolutely not.

  • It's nasty all right and a breeding ground for disease, CDC stats will show you that. It's an abomination too, an awful thing to have happen to someone that their sexuality is deformed and ruined for life so they never know having a family with their mate. Yet we're doing nothing to treat or prevent this awful birth defect we're just letting people's lives go to shit with this so a bunch of commies can profit politically. I'm damned lucky I'm normal because if I wasn't I'd have no hope what so ever for any help ever in a sick world like this.

  • I used to think nasty and disgusting but then my boyfriend and I were watching this movie called black swan and there's a scene where Mila kulnis goes down on Natalie Portman well I got so turned on by that scene and my boyfriend was hard so we had sex right there and then, never saw the rest of the movie.   • Homosexuality has existed all through human history and was around long before Christianity. Nasty? No. Abomination? No. The bible has caused far more harm to humanity than any act 2 guys or girls choose to perform on each other in the privacy of their own home.

    • Why do people always fixate on anal sex? Hetero couples can have anal sex, they can have oral sex. Neither are as nature intended. Hell having sex for more than just procreation can be deemed as being against natural design. Not all gay couples even participate in anal sex. The bible has also been rewritten many times with rules being left out or changed.

  • What else in Leviticus is called an abomination? Look them all up and ask if they are considered an abomination today. You cannot pick and choose from that book and say one is an abomination and the other is not.

  • Homosexuality was common, and normal with the Greeks and Romans, for a thousand years. Then, some angry men, write things, judging, condemning their controlling, dominating foe, hating all that they do, so of course they make it a horrible sin!
    Read history, and think for yourself rather than just follow some Dogma parroted to you by generations that never understood!

  • Oh right, that line that totally doesn't line up with anything else in the bible. Don't you think it's a little weird that the wording of this is just different than any other time in the bible something is labeled as sin?

    Which by the way, the bible is usually very diligent in using the word sin not abomination.

    Maybe just accept people and mind your own business like 90% of the bible says instead of yelling at gays like literally one line in the bible says.

    • Actually what no Christian ever states is that line is from the epistles. The epistles are letters between churches and early church leaders. The belief held by most theologians is that this specific letter was in regards to homosexual displays as a form of pagan religious practices. Which is why it was banned under Christian law. Some tribes and nations had religions in which men would engage in homosexual acts to praise gods of their religions. This was seen as blasphemous, as such, early Christians supposedly banned it, just like everything else pagans did regarding ritual. That is why Christians are not to wear materials of two different kinds, or cut their hair, shave their beard, or many others.

    Abomination: nah. To me, "abomination" implies "unnatural" and we know homosexuality is natural.

    • We've seen examples of it in over a hundred different species of animals, we know it's been present in every human population since the very beginning of history and we know it isn't particularly sensitive to evolutionary forces. These things imply that homosexuality is not only natural, but also not very harmful insofar as perpetuating a species goes. In fact, the _only_ places that suggest it's unnatural are in some religious texts.

    • Using animals sexual behaviors in comparinsing to humans is ridiculous. For one animals don't have a moral conscience, they will urine, defecate and sniff the ground right in front of a crowd and not think anything of it because its their animal instincts which makes them different from us humans; also animals will hump anything when in a sexual heat mode because they don't know any better. Moreover, homosexuality is very destructive because it causes a lot of STDs and death of gay men.

    "intercourse" between the same sexes is sin. And sin is sin. Period.

    Attached are translation grids from the original Hebrew which mention nothing of "boys"- it's always man and man vs man and woman, or man and mankind vs man and womankind. The 1611 KJB and even the 1395 Wycliffe Bible translate with "men" or Mankind", and not with "boys".

  • I neither condone nor condemn homosexuality but the interpretation of Leviticus 20:13 that you have quoted above is a modern interpretion of that quote and is incorrect. If you go back a few hundred years you will see that in earlier translations in many languages, the wording is: If a man lies with a boy... The abomination referred to was not homosexuality but pederasty (now comonly referred to as pedofilia)

  • As a religious jew a see homosexuality as a sin like every other, it is many ways similar to heavy drinking and any other forms of addiction, I have to say the reality homosexuality comes from pure sexual desires for the same sex and not follow the path your ancestors did (heterosexuality). I must explain aswell that I will not judge a homosexual.
