  • Yeah in the 50 years I have spent trying to understand myself (I know I never will), this one has cropped up a lot. Okay I had some mental health problems due to one thing or another, I have ended up working from home and be not a slave to the clock so I have learnt how therapeutic time is. What I mean is that in the past if I was feeling bad, it felt 10 times worse if I had to do a shift somewhere at a certain time now I have a really bad night so what I will catch up tomorrow or next time. So with sadness most of the time I go "This Time Will Pass" and ride it out.
Only thing only really works for those that have control of their own time - My advice if you don't create a space where you have control of your time maybe even be a bit of a kick up the ass type person say to yourself okay wallow but back to normal by Monday 9am.
Everyone is different I need to be told to get a grip rather than be cuddled or else I would stay there forever.

  • When everyone talks about doing something or the other, they're just surface level thoughts. I analyse the situation whatever happened with me. I think of all the possible ways I could've handled it and what outcomes they would've produced but clearly it's not in your hands. I just do this to make myself realise whether my actions at that moment were just and right or could I have done any better, if I could've I would do it the next time. From a bigger picture, no one cares what's going on with you, the world just keeps spinning, nothing stops it. After all of this I picture my life as a gamble and that everything I do is an experiment, it can be a success or failure. I can do numerous experiments, nothing's wrong in failing since I'm human and I'm alive after all the times I failed.

  • I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the seven chakras but I meditate. I will go outside and pick a rock wash it off go inside of my room close the door light a candle sit down on my bed, put on A root chakra meditation track from YouTube and meditate. While I meditate I hold the rock close to my heart. I repeat the mantra below as I meditate, . I have attached a link to the song I meditate to.

    • I have always slipped in and out of depression growing up , even now. So I’m always trying to find things to make me feel better too when I get down, & I’m a Pisces 🧜🏾‍♀️, so instead of identifying as a fish i identify with mermaids or unicorns and it makes me feel special. Also, I love eating dessert, so ice cream, cookies, chocolate or any fruity candy makes me feel better , along with a TV show like South Park, or a teenage movie like mean girls or a Cinderella story where a awkward girl comes out on top🥰, maybe a little weed ✨, in my bed separated from everyone else except for my cat, ( my cat always makes me feel loved so I keep him around) , taking a shower & moisturizing (this surprisingly works) and listening to slam poetry on YouTube.❤️🦄🧜🏾‍♀️I hope you feel better honestly.

    • I would say surround yourself with people who are funny and caring a such as friends. I personally don’t have any friends so I’m alone 99.99% of the time. Also decorating or rearranging your room may help if you are not too tired to get up out of bed, When I went into my depressive mood I was sooo exhausted inside, but I would still drag my heavy self to take a shower and it was always the very first step to feeling refreshed for energized enough to meditate , smoke a blunt, eat dessert or watch TV. ✨

  • Mmmmh Making beats, writing sad rap/poems, strumming on my guitar, gaming. Getting lost in my thoughts or just smoke a blunt

  • I have a few and they all work for different occasions of sadness.

One that is pretty good is watching funny videos online, and listening to upbeat or uplifting music. Its hard when you’re not in the mood, but the reality is that if i just put it on even in the back ground its going to help and eventually i alway laugh or begin dancing.

For me its kind of like tricking my inner toddler in to having fun rather than moping about and whining about things i can't change nor control.

  • Don't get sad, get angry. Even if you're just angry with yourself it's an impetus to actually do something. Being sad helps nothing, and gets nothing accomplished. If you get too sad you can't function, if you get too angry you just get better at functioning while angry. I've spent moments, or entire years enraged before... never depressed.

  • Crying it out with some music while playing my guitar and singing is the best and healthiest method tbh. Or watch a movie/tv show.

  • I go to parties or do excercise

  • I call my husband if we are not together, or I ask him to sit on the sofa with me and hold me tightly. The comfort of his love is all I need to feel better.

  • Icecream or chocolate. This question has made me sad I better get some chocolate just to be safe.

  • I’ve dealt with depression for most of my life, but not since I got my shit together and started working at an animal shelter. It’s a really humbling experience that makes my own problems look like nothing. My girlfriend left me? Well, this dog has no back legs and nobody to care for it... You know what I’m saying?

I really don’t get too sad about anything anymore. I’ve learned to just let go of most of the things that drag me down and only the truly terrible things in this world make me feel bad. Even then, I’ve met animals who have literally nothing good in their lives and can barely even move by themselves, yet they are somehow still happy and want to live... it’s really incredible.
