The way I see it, there's a kind of "bell curve" distribution pattern that correlates penis size with female sexual pleasure.
On one end of the curve, you got the micropenises/ small dicks, which provide little pleasure to the woman.
On the other end of the curve, you got the mega-cocks. Those are basically only pleasurable to pornstars who spent months preparing themselves physically and mentally for it, and even then many of those pornstar girls/ nymphos prefer that their steady boyfriends to NOT have monster dick. Many girls who haven't experienced the reality of the monster dick THINK they want it, but when they actually get it they realise it's a "careful what you wish for" deal. And then towards the middle of the distribution curve, you got the penises that range from "a bit below average" to "somewhat above average". After all, it makes sense that nature would evolve us over time to have an average penis size that optimally reflects the average vagina size (except women's "size" is all on the inside, so it's not immediately visible).
Monster dicks are not a "safe bet" when looked at through the evolutionary lens. They require a lot of blood circulation to become fully erect, and don't confer any real advantage to survival and reproduction over an average size penis.
If anything, the extra size is mainly just a psychological boost for the female partner, and maybe an ego boost for the guy. She might have a fetish about "worshipping" a big dick, but as far as the sexual functioning of her reproductive organs are concerned, all that extra length only really equates to added pressure along the vaginal wall, and with the potential of hitting the cervix and causing a moderate to strong amount of pain (ouch!). Most of her nerve endings are concentrated around the clitoris and the opening of the vulva, anyways. At a certain point, penis length hits diminishing returns in terms of her physical pleasure.
Then again, sexual stimulation comes from the BRAIN above all else, so in that sense no two women will experience the same dick the same exact way. The guy's size, shape, and technique could be identical... but two women with two different brains will EXPERIENCE it differently.
So yes, SOME women may be "wired" in such a way that ONLY a 10" dick or bigger can get them off during sex and/or foreplay. But that's more a reflection of how that woman interprets certain sexual stimuli on a mental/ emotional level... rather than anything objective about "bigger is better".
Most women can find optimal sexual fulfilment and enjoyment from penises that fall within the median range of the size distribution curve.
At both the "X-large" and "X-small" extremities, women's sexual satisfaction falls off steeply and rapidly-- even though a minority of women may be effectively "trained" to tolerate unusually large penises, and another minority of women may enjoy sex with a small-penis guy because of the other ways he's able to pleasure her (eg: he may compensate by using toys, fingers, mouth etc).
And of course, we can't discount the HUMAN BEING attached to the penis, regardless what size it is. If she really loves her man, then penis size could become proportionally less important to her... as other qualities he possesses take precedence in her sexual attraction to him.
It's quite clear that many women do not prefer larger penises -- but on the other hand, most girls don't want smaller ones either !
Guys who proudly proclaim their 8 - 9+ inches probably don't realise the majority of girls (I stress 'the majority') are not probably feel daunted at the prospect of that size penetrating them

Interesting. I guess openness about boob preferences is a cultural thing. It's a-ok to prefer small boobs, or just to not care about boobs of any size and say you're an "ass man" in my hometown. I understand that size queens are a small minority, but most women I know (who aren't lesbian) and most scientific data (usually sourced from college students in California) showed a preference for larger-than average dicks. There's a few factors involved. One is that there really are some size queens out there.
Second most guys have only seen other guys in porn so even big guys sometimes think that they're just average. Even if they know intellectually that they're not, it's hard not to compare and contrast.
Third if you go into any sex store the average size of insertables are much bigger than the average guy. This indicates a propensity for size.
Fourth girls talk about size, amd guys over hear. "did you hear about _____ he's tiny..." "OMG, are you serious?" Etc. I'm on one end of the spectrum and I have certainly been brought up multiple times at parties etc. Sometimes even when I'm in earshot. (I'll just say I "acted" in a couple of porn films).
