For me, it kind of depends on the situation, who is the one walking in on me, and maybe who I was fucking.

Once when I was a teenager, I was about to get into the shower and figured nobody would come into the bathroom (or hear me or wonder what I was doing) if they heard the shower running, so I decided to rub one out and forgot to lock the door. My dad came in BECAUSE he heard the shower running and thought I'd be behind the curtain. It was mortifying, but probably almost as bad for him as it was for me. He was cool about it though. He just said, "oh, pardon me, Son. I thought you were in the shower." He closed the door and never mentioned it again. Still, though. Mortifying.

Once on vacation a few years ago, our 4-year-old very quietly snuck into our room while my wife was riding me. He'd been in bed on a completely separate floor for three hours so we thought we were safe as long as we weren't real loud. Luckily the blankets were positioned such that he didn't see much, wouldn't have known what sex is, and was preoccupied enough with the tummy ache that bright him to us that he didn't even ask what we were doing. Still, maybe nothing is less comfortable than approaching a beautiful mutual orgasm and then making eye contact with your child about 30 seconds before you get there.

We were almost walked in on once by her Mom too, who realized what we were doing just in the nick of time and didn't open the door. We were "caught," but not walked in on. We were adults though, and she realized we didn't know she was in the house, so that time wasn't all that embarrassing.

In college, I lived in one place that had several roommates, who would basically congratulate each other if we ever aware that one of the others just had sex, so that wasn't embarrassing at all.

I think it just depends.
