If they're native English speakers, yes. I am not, so I sometimes use male/female instead. I've seen others who don't have English as their first language do it too. But if I see someone who use English daily and use female/male I get a little on edge. Innocent until proven guilty and all, but I'll be extra careful

Well it depends on the context of the conversation but I do find it unusual when men talk about women but use the word female instead. To me I feel like there trying to make it sound like women are below them, or something like that. So in that instant that could be a red flag
