Average number of women sexual partners is more than men. Would you agree or not?

This shows men have more partners:

so does it mean we have to stop saying men are more promiscuous, which is the stereotype?

ok so now this is the confusing part. Most of the forums, where people have been asked show women were equal or more in number. However other than this only article, men are more. So two opposite things here! also in my social circle, women i know are fucking lesser than men. And i know all of these women so it isn't that they can lie about their number since usually women lie about that. any thoughts?

  • Slight tendency for men to date down age wise multiplied by population pyramids aside (which don't move things that much)

The averages have to be equal. It's simply a mathematical fact. For every new man a woman has sex with, a man has also had sex with a new woman. Since the averages are equal to the sum of all partners divided by the total of people, both averages are, basically, the same.

So what's interesting then is the 'typical' case, or median. I think there is data showing that the men with the most partners outpace the highest partner women, for the most part. So for those men to exist, the rest of the male distribution has less partners then their female equivalents. There are sort of two possibilities here, and I think the truth is a little of both:

    1) The 'hookup world' has a larger number of women in it then men. So there's a small group of men with huge counts, a somewhat larger group of women with high but not as high counts, and then a big group of men and women outside those worlds who have similar stats.
    2) There's a small group of men who sleep with tons of women, and perhaps the typical woman has slept with one or two of those guys, on top of her normal interactions with normal guys. So the 'typical' woman has a couple extra partners than the 'typical' man because she's hooked up with a couple of players.

  • The average would have to be the same, surely? I just think the distribution is different for men and women. A few guys are having a hell of a lot of sex. The rest are having almost no sex at all.

  • TLDR: Studies would suggest men have more sexual partners in their life time, but there are other studies and theories to suggest it’s much closer to equal between men and women.

I’d just like to point a couple of things out based on studies. Almost all studies report the average number of sex partners to be higher in men than women, often around 2x as many.

BUT there are also studies to suggest why those numbers may be in accurate and it may be much closer to equal. These reasons include but aren’t limited to, gender representation and exclusion of certain groups of people (e. g. sex workers and people who are not long term residents of the country/location), men and women using different cognitive strategies to recall numbers which results in women often underestimating in many different kinds of studies involving recalling numbers of events/experiences, as well as tendency to overreport or underreport (either intentionally or unintentionally) due to societal expectations, standards and biases.

  • People lie about their body score so much I wouldn't believe anything

    • but women tell less, but report says they have more? how many you had by the way i heard you were or are a whore

    • Smh Alex, so you’re either calling her a prostitute or using the word whore in a derogatory manner. Get educated bro

    • @whipitout no im not. we have discussed some stuff before she herself told me she's a whore

  • I agree..

    • how many guys you have slept with?

    • With few around 12-13

    • how close it is too female average and average men have in your country?

  • It is about equal.

  • Obviously. Because it's far more common for women to be bisexual, and engage with sexual activity with partners of both sexes, than it is for men. It's only logical.
