I'm not sure. Maybe there is a simple distinction between "model" and "star" in the same way that there are actors and then there are actors who become stars. A model may be someone who tries out for porn and a star is someone who gains popularity, becomes a brand, and makes more money. In either case, they are engaging is sex in front of a camera for financial gain. It is a job.
