What is the difference between prostitution and getting married for money?

  • I suppose the primary difference is, prostitution involves a string of "clients" and is dangerous. It's like being a day laborer without benefits or security. A woman who marries for money gains comfort and security and only has to fuck one guy.

The question does need some clarification. I assume when you say "marrying for money", you mean it in a purely mercenary sense that doesn't involve love or attraction. Kind of like aristocrats or high value gold diggers. Both men and women do that. People often marry "up" if they can. A man might seek out an heiress or a woman with high income and power. Some parents, not just aristocrats, arrange marriages for just that purpose.

Are women like Zsa Zsa Gabor who engage in cereal marriage prostitutes?
    Are mistresses prostitutes?
I suppose highly paid escorts are prostitutes, but their jobs are much safer, more comfortable and profitable than common prostitutes.

I see little wrong with an attractive person using their body to make a good living as long as what they are doing doesn't cause them physical harm. After all, employees of most businesses are essentially selling themselves for wages. Sex, itself doesn't cause a person's body to degrade. Only a person's reputation can be harmed, but that is purely a social construct. I have a hard time accepting that social construct.

    • I have to disagree with you on here, i find prostitutes more respectful with higher morals than women who would go to extents to give a bad name to marriage in general and do it for the sake of money, when it should be way more than that. second of all, it would be VERY unfair for a woman who is more attractive and is willing to sleep around with anyone to get employed because of her sex appeal without having any prior experience than a woman who knows what she does but doesn't get accepted because she is not willing to sleep around to be landed a job, if that is what u meant, then i'm sorry to say your way of thinking is the exact thing corrupt companies in corrupt countries do and that is why they are corrupt.

    • You missed my point (s). You're talking about things that I never mentioned. I was addressing prostitution v. s. getting married for money. I didn't even get into the idea of getting married for love, which is what I did. I didn't mention or imply anything about your second point. I was talking about jobs in general being a form of prostitution. The fact that they don't involve sex isn't the point. How many women work as seamstresses, cleaners, or behind desks just to survive? People do things they hate and that are physically harmful for a paycheck. I don't see anything honorable about that. It's just survival. So, in that sense, sexual prostitution is no different.

  • that you wake up next to your husband for the rest of your life instead of in some other dudes bed every night xD

  • You get much more than money and he gets much more than sex. In prostitution you give your client what they paid for or the client pays for what they got. In a marriage you always go above and beyond for each other without expecting to somehow have the favor returned.

  • With marriage there's typically just one John involved.

  • one person vs many? one person value/respect you? Love?

  • It's similar, gold diggers have at least half of what is needed to be happy about working as a prostitute, the second part is being a slut who got fucked by many men.

  • It's a fair point... But one there is a chance you could love them in the marriage plus stds are not an issue with being with one guy.

  • Not much

  • Not much except for the fact that she is with one guy only and the less chance of getting STD's

  • Tbh, no difference, they're one in the same

  • One services many clients, the other just leeches off one.

  • Prostitute have sex with many men, woman only with one.

  • One possible difference. Usually with a prostitute, you know she is going to get down with you for money only. As for a woman who just marries for money. Usually, some men that get enticed by a woman, will be blind to her true intentions. So playing a man is one difference (which is not all her fault, most men are stupid enough to fall into the trap in the first place). Case in point, you are right, they are usually one in the same. Only difference is, one will bring you pleasure for a night, the other will he a pain in your ass for as long as you believe a marriage should be.

    • You are talking from a guy's point of view only.

    • Yes, a guys perspective that's been in at least one of those situations. And was stupid to almost get into something that would have made my life hell. Thank God, I didn't. Its not just saying to say... it comes from experience. I'm sure you think differently.

    • Well, i personally wouldn't become a prostitute ever , and neither will i marry a guy for money as i find both degrading.
