It's because those types of guys don't see sex as a serious step in a relationship but they see spending money on going out and gifts as one.

They feel like sex is something that is recreational and fun. That if you have a one night stand with someone or even hang out a few times and eventually get invited back to his place, that's casual. But what's not casual is going out to dinner and paying or buying a gift for someone on their birthday. Those things are more of a sacrifice you make for someone else.

When you spend money on someone (generally speaking) what you're saying is: I'm showing that I care about you by doing something for you that isn't in my best interest.

But sex is a mutually beneficial activity. It's not like either person loses anything. You only have things to gain.

No, not all men get mad about it. It is fair enough I think. Maybe I'm talking from my side but it is our responsibility as men to support women financially. They don't think the two are comparable. Most men would rather be used for sex than used for money. Also just in general it seems like women have the better end of the dynamic.
