I am not mainstream. I believe Cunnilingus to be the end point of making out. While I believe intercourse should be delayed for good reasons, I do not oppose advancing into cunnilingus if a make out session affords it. A women can learn more about a man from a session of cunnilingus than from guarded conversation. Cunnilingus almost guarantees he LIKES you right from the start. If he steps into it with zero expectation of you giving oral back, a relationship looking a lot like "love at first sight" can actually happen.
