Would you have slept with Harvey Weinstein for fame and fortune?

I don't believe that he forced everyone to have sex with him. I suspect many (nkt all) were willing participants doing it to get ahead in the industry. We often hear people say "I'll do whatever it takes" so it's logical to assume that includes sex.

Huge numbers of people want to be actors/actresses but most never even get on stage let alone to be in Hollywood.

So in exchange for stardom and wealth would you have slept with Harvey Weinstein of your own free will? (Yes that includes you guys).

Would you have encouraged a wife or daughter to do so to secure their fame and fortune?

There were absolutely women who willingly slept with him to get ahead, but he absolutely raped and sexually assaulted dozens (at LEAST!) of women who were not willing, and others didn't let it go that far but rather left quickly before it got to that point. He is the poster-child for a person who had tremendous power and influence using that power to illegally get what he wanted without suffering the consequences for DECADES. That's he's finally been found guilty of a couple of the crimes that he committed (many are past the statute of limitations) - and there are others that they're still building cases on - he's going to have to pay back a bit of that debt to society, but he's destroyed many lives in the process.

The thing is: everyone in Hollywood knew about this, but so many people needed his favor that very few were willing to risk their careers to say anything. I'm hardly "connected" to Hollywood in any real way, but in the mid-aughts I was doing video production and worked with some crew up from LA and they talked about him even then.

There are also several videos and audio recordings where it's absolutely clear that he's repeatedly touching, grabbing, and coercing women - and threatening them - and he was absolutely shameless about it. He sincerely believed that he'd never get caught because he was so powerful, so he hit on these women at every opportunity.

As for me personally? I've always been a "do it myself" kind of person, and I never cared to try to build my success on other people, much less do favors to "get ahead".

Harvey was no saint by any means. Not only was he a pervy old fuck but he was also an asshole who would also get violent with people. Long before he was outed much of Hollywood knew about his perverted ways and many up and coming actresses were warned about him.

That being said , the women that came foward were the ones that -I reckon- said no to him. How many untold number of actresses are keeping their mouths shut because they went to the sack with him and it advanced their career? Uff... it is rumored that these are legion. But we may never know.

I have no doubt that many of the sexual encounters with Weinstein were with women willing to spread their legs to get ahead with a career in Hollywood. I think in so many other areas as well sex is used as a way to get ahead.
As for me I can't honestly say I wouldn't have done something like that to get ahead if I had ever been in that position. I certainly wouldn't at this stage in my life with a great husband and three great kids.

No way! I have got where I want to be by my own efforts. If I had not made it, I would have been satisfied that I had done my best.

I think you may be right about some of them. I think there are people, in all walks of life, that will be mercenary enough to use whatever assets they have to progress their chosen careers.
