Why are bra and panties sexualized when a bikini is normalized?

Sure I get some bra and panties are see through. But sometimes a bikini show more. So why is a bikini ok but underwear is not ok to be seen in public.

  • Well, it's similar with guys, it's normal for us to be in swim wear, but in underwear it's not as common...
And maybe it's because when you see girl just in bra & knickers she probably undress herself because of you... But when you see her in swimsuit, she probably wants to just swim, or sunbath... And you made some association, and...

  • Because of CONTEXT.

Bikinis are intended to be seen, but are also generally limited to being worn at or around the beach or pool. Underwear isn't intended to be seen by the general public like bikinis are, so when you DO see it in public, it carries more impact.

  • That's my same question! Most of the time the bikini does have a thicker fabric but still!

  • Good question. Never understand that myself their basically the same thing.

  • i just enjoy both the same so my time at the beach is as much fun as going to a lingerie fashion show

  • I mean women in bikinis get sexualized as well, but yes less. Why? Because things have implications and contexts. Underwear is not meant to be seen, apart by someone who is undressing you, so its more intimate.

  • Holy crap.. Same question here. Never understood it.. Both are sexy as hell

  • Because it's for the purpose of swimming or beach activities, which is not supposed to be sexual. Same way wrestlers have leather underwear, no one seems to mind.

People can sexualize swimsuits and wrestler underwear if it's purpose is for roleplaying in the bedroom though.

  • I never could understand why women are completely ok with being seen in a bathing suit but God forbid some one see them in their bra& panties

  • Because bikini is made for a praticable purpose. Visible bra seems "neglected"

  • Bikinis are meant to be seen. Also the fabric is thicker and works well in water.

  • Good question.

  • It's all about what women want to claim is sexualized or not.
I mean they practically walk around naked in public and expect that it be treated as normal because that's how they want it but then claim a female in a movie or video game who wears more than what they wear in public is "sexualized" or "objectified".
