I've never done this, however I don't know if I'd jump to that conclusion. Especially the respect part (might be unintentional disrespect?). The serious relationship part... maybe. If you were interested before this though (and not completely turned off by this), wouldn't hurt to ask him what he's looking for. Also how soon did he do this?
