Are you shopping online during this quarantine?

Ooooh. Whats inside the box? I like your door. You must have fun taste.

Amazon is hiring 100,000 new workers to cover the increased sales.
Walmart, 10,000.
(It's very disturbing, though, reading articles about how poorly Amazon employees are treated, especially being forced to work overtime beyond their standard 10 hr days, because many employees are not showing up for work, with the risk of infection so high. Plus, the gruelling schedule they must keep up, or they get written up.
And spoiler alert: your products arriving at your home, and their packaging, could be infected. Wear gloves, wash your hands right after opening and disposing of packaging, or wait a day or so before you open them.)
This is how long they estimate the virus can survive on various materials.

Anyway, on a lighter note, anyone bought anything fun recently?

I haven't. I wish I had some fun hobbies to do with my hands [I know you're going to insert masturbation joke here, but you can only do that so much.]
I don't like that all packages get delivered to our lobby attendant desk and we then have to go sign for them. It's too much rigmarole. Even the pizza company made us go meet them outside. But my husband's weed, well that's worth a trip downstairs for sure... brb.

Hell no. Ain't nobody got money for that. Especially now.

  • I have been doing most of my shopping online for a good while, even before the coronavirus, and since my income hasn't been affected by the pandemic (as I work from home, selling digital products), I keep shopping online, yeah.

I haven't noticed any changes, really.
Things keep being delivered on time and I haven't noticed any shortages when it comes to goods.

That being said, I have been buying my groceries from farmer's markets, and those aren't cheap, I reckon most people buy things from cheaper, more mainstream channels, especially now that money may become an issue for a lot of people, and those employ more mainstream channels of delivery too.

My food comes in fancy trucks with cooling boxes, and my fresh rainbow trouts look the same too.
What I HAVE noticed are shortages when it comes to pet food.
It seems like people are buying super-premium pet food in spite of the crisis, I guess people will put their pets before them even during these times.

    • Yes, interesting! I remember reading a few years ago that pet supplies, baby supplies, and alcohol survive recessions, have continual purchasing.

  • An un-coated copper cup has virus fighting capacity. My great grandparents knew this. They drank out of nasty old copper cups. Even the corrosion is good. I just bought two.

    • Good idea! Doorknobs of copper are also good. And then you can make Moscow Mules sometimes, keeps them cold.

    • Very interesting. Good to know!

  • Yes, quite a bit actually however I’m trying really hard to buy local and from small business’

  • The only things I've got online are groceries and essentials. Some are able to be delivered to my door step and some I gotta head out to do a road side pick up.

  • Please, please only order necessities.

A family member was told on Wednesday that another worker had the virus. It took almost a week for Amazon to notify the employees. She has high blood pressure and diabetes which are both dangerous with this virus. 86% of those with high blood pressure and diabetes die if they contract the virus. She told me the majority of the shipments were not necessities but clothes, electronics and adult entertainment.

10 warehouses had employees with the virus. At a couple warehouses the employees refused to go back right away. They have to thoroughly clean the warehous.

    • Maybe THIS is the reason why people still get infected despite of the quarantine.

    • @Regmorus I convinced her to stay home and they'll be living on credit cards. She has a 7 year old daughter and my brother is in the high risk age group.

    • @Regmorus There were two warehouse in the same area that had coronavirus cases. The bigger one flows into the one she works in so it might have come from the first warehouse or it might have just been a chance happening.

  • Yes, but no more than usual. I still go to the grocery store and occasionally to places like Kmart or JC Penny's when I need something in particular. My wife and I are normally not into shopping unless we're after something specific.

  • The sporting goods store that I like is closed, so I ordered some special wool socks online. I'd like to order groceries but the local stores are not having a good time with it, as they aren't used to the delivery load.

  • I bought a baby picnic table for my kiddies. Obviously that's just for fun, nothing to do with being quarantined

    • Disinfect it really good.

    • Yessss. Hopefully its coming in a box

  • I ordered two things online before we locked down, I think, one thing came after like two days, which was really early and the other thing was supposed to come this past Tuesday, but never did.

I wouldn't mind buying some more things, to help kill a bit of boredom, but I don't want to spend a ton.

  • I thought I read that Amazon was only delivering essentials, maybe I'm wrong. I haven't ordered anything as of lately. I bought some foot care stuff at walmart but I want to order like the creme de la creme of foot care stuff since I can't go take care of my feet at the salon... this is something I guess I'm high maintenance about... 🤯

    • They're prioritizing essentials. But of course selling all the other stuff too.

    • Got it! I must have read it wrong. Now I need to go shopping... hahaha

  • How did this get put under sexuality? Gag has a strange sense of humor

  • I haven’t had any need to buy anything online. I did buy some hand sanitizer that came in the mail yesterday 😎.

  • I'm thinking of buying some things online but leery of germs

    • Yep me too. I've had a box of disposable gloves for years now, but hardly ever had a need to wear them. But I wore them to get out of my building, and go to the grocery store. But honestly, I don't know how one is supposed to do that without contaminating everything anyway. I touch door handles, my keys, can't touch my phone, scratch itches on my face with my shoulder if possible, but all the food and produce, etc., I'm putting in my personal little trolley fold up cart I own, and then back to door handles, fridge, etc. I mean it's endless, all the things you could be infecting. Yesterday I figured out how to get out of my building and all the various doors without using a key or hand though. I used my bum to push the handles. Then I was free to use my hands on my walk!

    • Yes @AmandaYVR I was cautious when i went grocery shopping but nothing you can do i wipe the handles of the grocery cart. I believe i got disposable gloves here not sure there is people buying stuff online and they are spraying boxes with bleach and will wait 24 hours before handling the package.

  • I bought some shirts and a cigar about 2 weeks ago so shipping has taken awhile but is supposed to be tomorrow

  • I’m working... that is all I am doing.

    • And being on gag, I presume ;)

    • True... it passes the time. ;)

  • Not any more then usual. Which is very rarely. I still prefer to see & touch what I am buying

  • No but i can't find any rubbing alcohol at all or hand sanitizer

    • Too bad. I happened to have some of all of that stuff. Very organized typically. But now I'm in ration mode. One of the two tiny pocket hand sanitizer gels we just opened smells like my Oma's perfume. Made me happy. She passed some years ago.

    • You are very organized to have that. I've been searching for weeks even at 7:AM is your stuff real old or dod you buy it recently?

    • Bought two types of rubbing alcohol, gloves, hand sanitizers all years ago. They're just good things to have around.

  • Yeah i bought "fun" stuff. 😛 hint hint wink wink 😂😂

  • I would be if I thought anything would get here on time.

  • I don't normally buy much on line.

  • I have.

  • Guilty!!

    • So how guilty are you? Commodoreii guilty? 🔥
