What was God thinking when he gave some of us such an intense, sometimes overwhelming, sexual desire, or is that the devils fault?

Were we created by God to seek after and enjoy a sexual existence or was it a curse put upon us by the devil?

If some of us were not created to have an almost uncontrollable craving for sex, than why are there so many male bible characters that had several wives, or one wife and several concubines, or both, in order to satisfy his craving.

Even some women trapped in these harems who were not selected that day for the sexual pleasure of their master may have resorted to a lesbian affair to satisfy her overwhelming craving for the sexual satisfaction that she needed until her turn came up again.

Was that the devil causing all those sexual needs in both men and women, or were we given those needs and desires by God from birth?

What was God thinking when he gave some of us such an intense, sometimes overwhelming, sexual desire, or is that the devils fault?
A. God wanted, at least some of us, to have an "I HAVE TO HAVE IT RIGHT NOW!" attitude and craving towards sex in order to procreate and continue the human species

D. It is a mix between God and the devil. God wants us to do use our bodies sexually only at certain times under certain conditions but the devil wants us to do it non-stop in order to corrupt us with the over indulgence of such a good thing

F. I think God loves us and wants us to be happy for the short time we are here on earth, so if having a lot of sex will do that than that is ok with him

  • I don't believe in god I believe sexual desires are there because it's one of the most important things in life and the variety in the strength of the sex drive is just like the variety in everything else. Diversity is the prerequisite for evolution because if we're all the same we're all gonna die to the same shit and there's not gonna be much selection so we need to be different. But if there was a god, god created us and gave us our desires so if no sex before marriage is so important why did he make people want to have sex before marriage in the first place? Religions are just rules written AFTER we already existed and tailored to our reality that's how you know it's not from god. If an all powerful all knowing being designed the world it would be a lot sleeker, less chaotic, less horrible things happening everywhere etc.

I feel like even people could do a better job than god did if we got the best and brightest minds together and had to design a new planet with new people and animals and we could do it however we wanted I feel like the stuff they would come up with would be better than this place. You can see it in videogames the worlds created there are sick. But this beeing is all knowing and all powerful and couldn't do better than this? And why are people always at fault for everything? If you have someone who's at the top of the hierarchy like a boss or a GOD who created the whole planet then aren't they responsible for how it turns out?

In the bible god makes the "perfect" world and then he just leaves and everything after that is our fault but what is he doing in that time? Is he not responsible for this planet anymore? He's god he has the power to change anything so he's also responsible for everything bad that's ever happened on this planet. You can't call yourself god and then just run away from any responsibility. With great power comes great responsibility and god is all powerful but has no responsibility for earth? And all the people that say every suffering is part of some bigger plan I just wanna laugh at them tbh.

    P. S. I like the pics for C and G :)

  • God created sex for procreation and I'm sure for enjoying that part of creation. If you read the Song of Solomon it shows God is ok with sex. What He is not OK with is how sex has been profaned over time to be just for fun and for the depravity of how it is used. Porn and the sex trade are not something that God ordained, it was men's desires. He didn't design all the orifices in the human body for sex, just the Vagina yet again men's desires has also profaned that. If anyone's sexual desires are intense and overwhelming - can one be underwhelmed?- it is from sex in movies, on social media, porn, magazines, videos, and the fashion industry where models have to look skinny yet voluptuous, and every bikini and panty are thongs and barely there in material. Girls seem to be having sex at even more younger ages. They aren't even allowed to be kids anymore. So God doesn't give you an intense sex drive, it comes from what your visual senses perceive in society today with it's hookup culture and sites such as Instagram and Tinder, to name a few, as there are literally thousands of sites catering to sex.

What was God thinking when he gave some of us such an intense, sometimes overwhelming, sexual desire, or is that the devils fault?

  • You brought up men of old with multiple wives. That is what was written.

Regarding the animals, it was written, in Genesis 1:22 "And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth."

Regarding Adam and Eve in Paradise (not dying) it wrote in Genesis 1:28 "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it..."

Note the similarities of the words of blessings to animals and to Adam and Eve. The only great difference was Adam and Eve were suppose to be immortal, live forever in Eden without dying.

Hence I did not vote because this factor was not in any of your choices.

Post-Eden lifestyle was tough and rough. Post-flood was worst. But Noah and his children made it.

They populated the earth even in incest. And God allowed it because there was no choice. 4 couples. Without incest the earth cannot be populated.

Hence was incest from the devil or merely permitted by God? Same with polygamy. It was approved in the OT but not in the NT. Yet the same human desire remains.

Is God playing both Holy and Evil? You decide.

    • I'd argue that the animals were to be immortal, too since death came through Adam and then death. I Corinthians 15:21-22 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—

    • @I-am-a-nobody interesting interpretation of 1 Cor 15 for many took it to refer to death entering the realm of mankind, not animal kind. For me, Ecclesiastes 3:18 "I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. 19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity." These 2 verses are comparison of men and beast - that man are no superior to beast because both die. The last part of verse 18 "that they might see that they themselves are beasts." seems to imply that in the begjnning, beast die and Man don't, hence there is superiority. Just my interpretation.

    • @I-am-a-nobody also, assuming Adam's sin caused animals to die, this would mean Christ death would redeem the animals too. But Revelation 20:12 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." The two verses spoke only the resurrection of dead men, not animals because the deeds of men (according to the moral standard of God) is the basis for judgement. Animals don't have those morals. Hence my 2nd interpretation of Revelation is, only man are given resurrection, not animals. This means, the original sin affects man only, because animal kinds don't have immortal life.

  • Each person has a form of temptation that they will become overwhelmed with. There is a choice between yes and no for some things and for others they can be used for good or for evil. Even Jesus himself was tempted by the devil for 40 days. We each are given a way to be free or to be a slave to sin. One can be set free from the one who is without sin.

  • We don't have such an intense uncontrollable desire for sex. There some cases , but those are the exception.

Most people only have such strong desire because all we see online or tv or in music is about sex: half naked people, shows where the relationships are only define by sex or the plot runs around who has slept with who, an many other things.

It all shows, music's and internet ads were about gardening we would always be thinking about gardens.

So, we do have a desire for intimacy but it's like most of the time we are practicing on increasing that desire.

  • God gave us freewill. The devil tempts us with sexual desires before marriage

    • Is that good or bad? ... lol

    • Considering we shouldve waited til marriage to have sex and he's the devil, what you think...

    • I think being a little naughty sometimes is forgivable :)

  • I picked D. I think it's probably a mix between God and devil.

  • I'm super horny almost all the time. Just the way it is

    • Join the club... wait... is there one? ... lol

    • It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this lol. we could start one. I seriously play with myself at least twice a day

  • Of course he created sex but only for reproduction and faithfulness to one person.

  • I once heard a preacher say there would be great feasts in heaven even though gluttony is a sin. I guess under that logic there’ll be great orgies too.

I had a penthouse magazine a long time ago with two girls dressed as angels doing a girl on girl scene and fucking each other with a golden rod. Two beautiful women having sex with each other is heaven in my opinion. Watching it is like eating chocolate cake with chocolate icing, it’s the most decadent of the indulgences.

  • Why did God create the devil? There's no logical answer because nothing involving god has logic. Because there isn't one and people weren't good at story writing back when those books were originally written. It's not their fault. Not many people could read or write and they had to focus more on surviving. But the quality clearly suffered. It's not a well-written story.

    • It's called "freewill", which God has given to us and it's better than "living" as a robot. Ever think that an omniscient being might know better than you about what's ultimately best?

    • No. I think there isn't an omniscient being. A fictional character can't know more than the author.

    • @madhatter920 Well, if you ever get the courage to consider that an omniscient being might exist, then you might understand why that being would create other beings with a freewill rather than robots.

  • In Genesis, the first chapter in the bible, God gave Adam and Eve a paradise to live in, with one simple rule: "Don't eat from the 'Tree of Knowledge' ". During this time, God allowed both of them to explore and enjoy the paradise where they were placed, with no other restrictions. I do believe this was also without clothing and completely without modesty.

Then, The event with the apple happened. As punishment, God caste them away from Eden, Let them keep the knowledge they were nude, which in turn, gave them the feelings of being ashamed of their bodies.

God never took away their desire to have sex or to have sexual desires. God only took away the paradise that allowed them to never have to work for what they got.

In short, people, all the way back to our creation, we have always wanted to make love. It is only been other people's opinions that make us think we shouldn't.

    • That's a great take, I like it, thank you :)

    • Kisses, Laurie.

  • Sexual desire is a natural God-given force, meant to encourage us to achieve union with another human being (and possibly reproduce with them, although that's not necessarily the primary purpose as demonstrated by how many times God chose to close the wombs of married women in the Old Testament).

Anyway, this natural God-given desire can be perverted due to the human sinful nature (research the "yetzer hara"). This is similar to how hunger is a natural God-given desire, but our sinful nature can pervert it so that we are tempted to engage in gluttony, which is a sin & can be very destructive to our lives, health, and well-being.

  • Love the pictures as always.
And I think since "God works in mysterious ways" it's pointless to try and guess what he was thinking but I believe that if we are programmed with a certain emotion then we are made to act on it. And that's why I don't believe sex is a bad action or something the devil puts in our path. And even it was... I'm afraid I can't do much about it.

  • It's a built in survival of species mechanism. Long before monotheism, the prevailing theology was #1 feminine and #2 centered on fertility rituals

  • Sex is wonderful, God invented it. God created Eve to be a suitable helper to Adam and part of that meant giving Adam pleasure sexual. Likewise, Adam gave her sexual pleasure. That people have corrupted this marvelous gift from God is NOT God's fault. Multiple spouses wasn't God's plan. People did it, but it wasn't what God wanted.

Jesus said in Mark 10:6-8 (CAPS means He's quoting the OT):
“But from the beginning of creation, God MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. 7 “FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, 8 AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.
    .
Note: God's plan is for 2 to become 1, not for a guy to have multiple wives. Which always made for a mess. (see the families of David and Jacob and Solomon's life in quote near the bottom).
A lot of sexual sin is because we feed that desire, So, if a person, whether pagan or Christian, looks at porn, they're going to be enticed to have sex, whether in marriage as God intends or in an illicit relationship.

    James 1: 13-17
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
Note: Sin brings forth DEATH! People may think they're getting away with it, like David did with Bathsheba, but they're not.

    As I said elsewhere...
If you think religion is anti-sex, you haven't read "Song of Solomon.
The Bible addresses sex as a positive, but only in the context of marriage.

    I Corinthians 7:9
"But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion."

    Proverbs 5:18-19
    Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19 As a loving hind and a graceful doe,
    Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
Be exhilarated always with her love.

Elsewhere in the Bible, Solomon laments how meaningless sex and other pleasures are when people seek pleasure for its own sake. In Ecclesiastes 2, Solomon says:

I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure. So enjoy yourself.” And behold, it too was futility. 2 I said of laughter, “It is madness,” and of pleasure, “What does it accomplish?”... I provided for myself... the pleasures of men—many concubines... I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, ... and behold all was vanity (meaningless).

This is a man with hundreds of women, but ultimately it was unsatisfying
So, mere sex for the sake of sex doesn't ultimately satisfy.

You have to ask yourself, "What kind of life do I really want?"

  • God? Devil? What the hell are you talkin about?

  • If you believe in God in the religious sense then technically God is responsible for everything. God created the entire world, us, and the devil. He is an all powerful and all knowing being. Therefor God knew exactly what each and everyone of us would do, including the devil. And that also means that God would have had the power to prevent anything he didn’t want to happen. That means that God is responsible for anything the devil is responsible for. Thus, God is responsible for some people’s high sex drive.

    • Wow, I never heard it put that way... that makes a lot of sense, I like it! Thank you :)

    • No problem

    • My belief, is like many others... There isn't an entity we identified as "The Devil" except as the gate keeper of the underworld. All acts, for or against people, have been the action of "God".

  • The book of song of songs literally is about sex between husband and wife. In fact 1 Corinthians 7 literally says if you can't control your passions get married.

God has no issue with sex as long as it's in marriage according to the Bible.

Plus at the time the Bible was written people got married younger anyway so it's not like they'd have to "wait" as long.

  • i think it's the instinct to share heat. The friction of dick pushing its way into a tight orifice helps lonely people stay warm. Plus the energy spent holding her down and her energy spent testing such restraints - it's all very comfortable. The inevitable orgasms are merely pleasant surprises, and a way to reduce each other to just two people with satisfied needs.

    • OMG! ... that was erotic... you should be a writer :)
