  • I don't think it necessarily needs to be banned, but I personally think we would be better off without it. Porn can become really addictive for some people, it sets unrealistic expectations of what sex is like, sets unrealistic expectations for both men and women (i. e. penis size or breast size/the notion we 'have to' shave our entire crotch), effects on libido (meaning less energy or desire to have sex with your partner), or even in some cases, people end up finding porn more stimulating than sex and that is a little sad. The most alarming thing is that it is way too accessible. It is scary how a harmless search can lead to porn videos and children have more and more access to the internet. It's the easy accessibility that I take a massive issue with.
Obviously, if banning porn stopped trafficking and child pornography, then that would be the best option. However, as long as the internet exists, it will be incredibly hard to control, and people would still find a way on the dark web as pedos do. This may actually make it more difficult to find pedos and illegal child pornography because you would suddenly have a bunch of other more harmless people to police as well. This could get in the way of finding real predators.

I wish we lived in a world where porn was like it used to be: an often laughable video tape you had to own or rent to watch. I think it is easier to keep that away from kids. Porn can exist, but I think it needs to find a way to determine the age of the viewer and not be so easily found. Disturbing and abusive videos shouldn't be allowed on porn sites and perhaps there could be a way of preventing porn addiction by setting limits of how often someone can watch it per week, etc.

  • The thing is, whether or not it's illegal porn will always be out there. Child porn is illegal yet many pedophiles are openly circulating child pornography even on social media websites on the surface web, can you imagine what goes on in the deep/dark web then?

Don't get me wrong, I do believe porn shouldn't be a thing and if there was a way to ban it so that people really wouldn't be able to watch it, I'd absolutely want it to be implemented.

    • Wtf pornography should be legal

    • I'm curious why you think it should be banned?

    • It's extremely harmful for your psychology and your libido. It's highly addictive. Porn temporarily gives you satisfaction but overtime it worsens your ability to control yourself. And not to mention the heavy exploitation of women that takes place in the adult film industry. PornHub is full of non-consensual content that they don't care to remove because they want all the money. I'm pretty sure porn has some positives, but the negatives are far greater.

  • No not at all, porn itself is not a bad thing and i'd be willing to bet its a strong enough outlet to prevent a lot of bad. Sure there is abuse in the industry and sure people can get addicted. But need to look at it from a honest perspective.

You got multiple kinds of porn, the kind of self produced stuff that is totally fine. And the professional kind where people are treated poorly. But if its legal you can at least put regulations and inspections on it. Don't think the health of the girls is a priority when it all dives underground.

As for the addiction part, i don't think it has that strong of an effect. You need to have a tendency to get addicted to things for porn to be remotely addictive. The fact its a good stimulant does not suddenly make it more desirable than real sex (exceptions excluded) and its not suddenly going to make people dependent on it. Its just a nicer option than fantasies for people who want a bit of unpredictability or are more visually inclined.

So ultimately i think it does more good than harm and its something sought after so you can't just put a ban on it and think its gone. That will just create a black market.

  • pornography is not bad
it becomes bad when illegal things happen behind them, like human trafficking, etc.

    • Yeah and smoking is not bad as long as there is no tobacco involved.

    • @CubsterShura prove it

    • @CubsterShura Wrong, Dr. Shura. Any kind of "smoke" you put into your lungs is not "good". Vaping is likely to be worse in the long run than actually smoking, but it's too soon to tell.

  • Absolutely not! Banning it would just create a black market where it would be produced and consumed unsafely.

Furthermore, although it is far from perfect, it provides a means of sexual relief. Not having that, I suspect leads to repression which is more dangerous?

  • That's like encouraging sexual harassment and rape, because for now a lot of men (and women) turn to porn because they have no other option. If they don't have that, what do you expect them to do?

    • Riiiight, because men are automatically rapist?

    • I said And women

    • They're not automatically rapist, but imagine if porn is gone, a lot of people would be tempted to break the boundaries. And no, that does not mean all or even most people, but a lot of them would find themselves sexually deprived and would potentially find other methods to satisfy their needs, some of them illegal and some of them would resort to rape.

  • Well..
The thing is, porn is looked down on as people see it as a insult to whichever gender is being involved in the scenes.

But the thing is, these people choose to have this career as a job in itself, making channels, making money off of the amount of views and likes.

Some people may shun the idea of watching it, but I don't believe you should make it illegal, not only because it is enjoyable to watch (Both for women and men) but also because if you made it illegal, you would be making a lot of people jobless, it is something they want to do and if they didn't then they would be choosing a different career.

Also, porn stars make a LOT of money, so to give up a job like that would be a bad move if you are comfortable with the scenes you have to perform.

  • No pornography shouldn't be made illegal. Reason being it would take away free speech. Another is nobody forces other people 2 watch it. It all goes back 2 haters. U got people who are always going 2 hate on what they can't control. Best thing people could do is 2 not make such a big deal about porn. Cause by making it an issue. That makes some people want 2 see it even more. Remember u don't make an issue about some things. Then over time it will slowly start 2 fade. As long as people talk about porn and hate on it. Then the more people will keep having interest. Cause no matter what u do. Porn will always be around legal or illegal. Face it porn is here 2 stay.

    • Porn isn't speech dude.

  • This comes down to a simple question: How much are people allowed to ruin their own and others' lives?

  • LIFE WOULD BE VERY BORING

  • Then we can ban Disney cartoons, movies of love stories, social media, texting for business only, all religious programs. That suit you as well!

    • Yes, pornography is just as equal as love stories and cartoons for children. Galaxy brain right there. Your depraved lifestyle screwed your little brain.

    • @EmperorOfRussia NO! It's your Socialist Mind at work you fuckin idiot! Once things begin to get banned it doesn't stop. I don't really give a fiddler's fuck who likes or dislikes porn it's the idea of banning something because it doesn't fit your liking. You make a perfect Russian, please return there.

  • No, but I do think it should be more regulated to ensure that everyone being filmed is a knowing and willing participant.

    • As long as the regulations would not harm individual creators who film their own sex life, because that kind of porn is the most participant friendly and most authentic you can find.

    • @sawno That’s fair.

  • As long as it doesn't replace real relationships, involve underage people, human trafficking and the like, it's pretty harmless.

Personally, I'm more into erotic literature.

  • What? Why?

  • yeah iit shuld it serves no purpose but to make money for people whp need drug money or money for collage. there is no other point to it.

  • Yes, it shall be. Or at least be heavily regulated to the point of becoming an unprofitable activity.

  • Pornography has a similar effect on the mind to that of a drug. There are some consequences to its use. It can decrease men's libido and self-esteem, damage present and future relationships, and can leave you prone to an addiction. With all this being said, given how lucrative the porn industry seems to be, it'd be almost impossible to outlaw it.

    • If one chooses to watch porn knowing all these stuff, who is powerful to stop him/her? It's their life and their genitalia.

  • no lol. i would not have anything to watch anymore

    • Netflix, chickficks, serials movies, of not work on your aspirations read books

    • @Aakash_Hangargi lol i still need to get off to something. shows and books do not give me enough

    • I am gonna be quite now 😉

  • No, i think if certain people can't have at least that outlet they will turn to worse things.

    • Riiiight, because men are automatically rapist?

    • @Guffrus no, not at all. all humans need some form of impulse control. I think a lot of people live out their crime dreams vicariously through true crime shows and stuff, and porn seems to be a way of experiencing things a little without actually doing them. Yes rape would be an issue, but it isn't just a man issue, it's an everyone issue.

  • Nah. The more time weirdos spend watching porn is time they don't spend out being weird to actual people.

  • Definitely shouldn't he illegal

  • We'd have to define it much more explicitly. And even then, banning all of it effectively sounds like it'd turn into another Prohibition. But with even scarier results. Now, the categories of it that are already illegal? That's why I suggest adopting thermal depolymerization as a form of execution.

  • unfortunately for you, you grew up in an age where guys can get porn anytime they want at a very early age. Males grow up with a severely distorted view on what sex is. Porn is fantasy, not reality. Porn is not sex. So if guys grow up thinking that is sex, it is just a disaster. No, porn should not be illegal, that is absurd. But I wish there was a way to force it to be pay only, not free. The saddest thing you can see is someone who posts a question "who is your favorite porn star". That is just a sad individual. If you watch enough porn to have a "favorite star", you are seriously pathetic.

  • Illegal? Why, and how? So many cases gone through the Supreme Court and supported under the 1st Amendment.
Here's a novel idea: if you don't like it, don't watch it, and just go knit a sweater! Just because some don't like a thing is not grounds to ban it, or EVERYTHING would be banned!!
I HATE BANJO music, so I don't listen to it, but wouldn't ever consider banning, or telling those that love it, not to be able to play it!!
