  I was raised in Concord, Mass. (As in Lexington and). Very Revolutionary War conscious. Paul Revere and others. My ancestry is 50% stuffy Boston Brahman (AKA Mandarin) and 50% Kick your bloody ass Irish. I know ethnicity is not supposed to have psychological components, but I live a life of amusing self conflict. I'll serve you G. H. Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut Champagne, but if you don't like it, I might smack you around.

  In the modern era, the three ethnicities that built America are Italian, Irish and Jewish. Honorable mention to your ancestors that built the railroads and Western Union. **tips hat**. You were treated like shit but you did your jobs.

  @Dargil I had some bad experiences with Irish Catholics Growing up in Seattle. Actually my professor right now is Irish Catholic and she basically is wasting my tuition money with the nonsense she calls education. I almost want to complain to the department. But I do agree that they are one of the most important ethnicities that built modern America at least since early 20th century.

  @Dargil Jewish people on the other hand are extremely smart but that also makes them extremely ominous to me. I look at Jews like Michael Bloomberg and fear that I’m basically just one of their pawns. I don’t have much experience with Jews but in my experience they tend to be really smart but also really selfish and kind of bullies... sorry but that’s just my impression

  I know that the Italian and Irish Catholics did not like other minorities moving in on their deal. As a Chinese or black, try joining a labor union back then... or even today.

  @Dargil yeah sorry for spewing toxicity. Anyone Americanized is pretty much similar behavior I think regardless of ethnicity they just talk and act American now. I live in San Francisco now and there is definitely more Cantonese history here. I’m more of a Northern Chinese but it’s still nice to see a certain kind of Asian heritage in the US at least in some form. Sigh anyway it doesn’t matter to me on a day to day level though...

  I like Massachusetts because of the combination of old and new. I grew up in Seattle and everything was just new new new. I would travel to Beijing the home of my parents and everything was hundreds of years old. I couldn’t reconcile the ancient history on one hand and the extreme modernism on the other. Massachusetts was one of the few things I could see that exhibits my American identity but also has a respect for the past like I saw when I went to Beijing. So that’s why I like it. However, living situation wise I agree that there are easier and cheaper places to live.

  I don’t think the history of Chinese Americans is anywhere nearly as rich as White ethnicities like Irish or German. I feel like Italians are the closest because we’re both minorities with lots of ancient glory but modern criticism. Like Chinese built Chinatowns and Italians built Little Italies. But Chinese are probably more hated Overall though in today’s age. we’re basically almost not even American even though we are... A Cantonese guy was telling me that the history of Chinese Americans in America is now similar to Native Americans. A part of the picture but easily overlooked... I guess I have to make peace with my minority-ness to America probably for the rest of my life.
