Are nipples unprofessional?

I’ve been wanting to free the nipple, ie, use bras that aren’t padded or just not wear a bra at all, but I work in a male dominated field and I’m not sure if it would be perceived as unprofessional or if it would make my colleagues and superiors uncomfortable. How would feel about a coworker if her nipples peeked through her blouse every once in a while?

  • Im usually all for freeing the nipples entirely.
I imagine a time where this conversation isn't even a conversation anymore and women and men alike are comfortable and used to the sight of nipples.
But if you work in a very professional domain like somewhere where men wear suits to work then it's only right considering men have to suffer a tie all day in order to look professional that you wear a bra for the same reason. Not that nipples are unprofessional but unfortunately to this day they are still precived as sexual organs and you could be misunderstood as trying to charm your way to a promotion. That would be bad

  • I probably wouldn't notice, and if I did, I would think "Gah, I shouldn't be looking at her breasts, we're at work" and try to shift my attention elsewhere. If I'm staring enough at your breasts to actually notice, I'm the unprofessional one.

(You probably shouldn't listen to me, though, since almost everybody else in the thread is saying the opposite.)

  • Very unprofessional 😂😂 it is something private even guys do not show their nipple in public workplace.

    • Unless their workplace is a male strip bar. lol

  • Its prob fine on the weekend amoungst friends and family but not at work

  • I would love it, but it should not be done at work. Outside of work, do it wherever you want.

  • It happens, even without the 'FREE THE NIPPLE' movement!! Natural, normal reactions to little things like the AC coming on, and a chill!!
What is the big deal, if a woman has erect nipples and they show? Most just pretend that they don't see, out of social manners, and expectations, I think!
It happens a lot, and I notice, and don't ever say anything, but it is just nice, and natural, and so what?
I would never expect that she need to hide a natural thing, like that, with special clothes, and that seems a little early 1900's!
Thongs on the beach are OK, but a woman with a nice silk blouse, professional, and hard nipples might be a problem to some? REALLY?

  • I don't think people should freak out about it. In fact I think it's unhealthy to make a fuss about seeing the outline of nipples under the fabric of her clothes.

  • Personally I'd love it. In a professional business atmosphere I think she might need to be a bit discreet how she dresses.

  • I probably wouldn't think about it unless she was super hot or something. But even then if it was an important job I just wouldn't think about it at all.

  • guys would constantly look

  • dont do it at work but go outside with it if you want

  • It would undoubtedly cause me to consider her more as a sexual creature, but I'm old; I don't change with fashions any more. It would not cause me to think less of her professionally, or as a person; all women are taboo, until they explicitly tell me otherwise. Saves time and effort.

  • no work would get done because it's a male dominated field and it would probably distract them, not even the most polite of men can avoid gawking

    • Spot on. I'd like to be as polite as possible but we are human. I know I'd be worthless lol

  • Nipples are unprofessional. Same goes for dudes who would waltz into said office with a tight white t shirt. Nobody wants to see that.

  • I think that boobs are over-sexualized, but agree that they don't have a place in the workplace.

  • I dont think it is super profesionall to be nipping out in a work place. You dont see dudes doing it so not like you are fighting for equality here

  • Very un professional

  • Free them

  • It's very unprofessional. Women use their tits for sexual attention, sexual power, and sexual pleasure... therefore they are sexual body parts and should be treated as such.
