Have you ever raped/ sexual harassed women/men because of their revealing clothes at night?

Can someone explain to me why a rapist should care about the person's choice in clothes? Do you really think they would not rape you, if you wear modest clothes? I live in a country where prostitution is legal, very cheap and is available everywhere but rape still happen especially to women who wear casual clothes. I know women who get raped/harassed although they wear fucking hijab or burkha. 80% of rape victims are raped by someone they already know like their relatives or husband/wife and not by some stranger out of nowhere.

  • I don't think clothes have anything to do with it.
Blaming rape on clothing is probably one of the dumbest things I've heard.

And yes I actually did hear someone say that to a women who was raped...

  • Your statements are true. Men who say "I raped her because her clothes say she was asking for it" belong in jail, where "Bubba" says "if you have an ass, YOU'RE asking for it!"

  • A person's clothes is never an excuse or justification for rape or harassment, but you have to recognize that, at least in some cases, it can be a contributing factor. That doesn't mean it's always a factor, or even the majority of the time, but it CAN be a factor - mostly because revealing or sexualized clothes can draw the attention of the kind of sociopathic people who rape. I think we both agree that clothing is blamed far too frequently, and is NOT an excuse - but it CAN be a piece in a bigger puzzle.

It's not unlike a mugger choosing a victim because he's wearing expensive shoes or jewelry - that's no guarantee that they've got cash on them, etc., but it often makes them a more likely target.

    • But if we all women dress modest clothes, it will still happen

    • As I said, most of the time it isn't a factor - but sometimes it can be. Like most things in life, it isn't an "all or none" situation - the truth is somewhere in the middle.

  • It’s never the victim’s fault. Rape and sexual assault cannot and should not be justified.

  • No, that's fucking stupid. Rape doesn't happen because of clothes (also, rape is rare in the west (based upon all statistical data if we consider all age groups, regions, and behaviors are equally likely to result in rape (which is not the case) you have a life time chance of about 3% max (and this ignores a lot of other factors (false rape accusations, personal choices etc.)). Also men get raped at the same rates, do you think its the way they are dressed? This is not a thing, its never been a thing, and never will be a thing so why do women keep claiming its the case? That's stupid please stop.

    • Men can also be raped as I said.

    • I personally only know men who was raped. And What do women claim?

    • I also agree with you

  • You have the right to wear what you want without being raped or harassed. But that does not mean that it does not happen! If you make yourself look like a victim and go where criminal acts often happen, you should be aware that you are pretty much asking for trouble.

  • I've never done it but it's likely not just revealing clothes either. It's how they hold themselves to. Are they being sensual? But the overwhelming argument here is clothes are not consent. Which I completely agree. But my point, is modesty is safety. It's not saying girls can't look sexy just be careful when and where you do it. I speak for the girls here. Also bring a coat if possible. Again, this is not right at all to Harrass or rape women and the slut walk is also an example of the push back to this. Why does this happen though? Because some guys don't have control of their sexual urges, some guys just choose to act on their sexual urges and sometimes guys are just too nieve to pay attention to the situation. Overall I suggest just to be safe, dont draw attention to your self in dangerous areas, carry mace, travel in groups, and whenever possible limit walking by yourself and mainly travel in cars. Also use a coat when you can. I'm sure I'll get heat for even suggesting that the girl/woman do anything but making a commitment to safety from the end that has control is worth it. I'd recommend this to people that don't want their purse or wallet stolen, not everyone is honest or safe and you need to be prepared for that

    • There is no limit when it comes to dressing modestly. I mean even if majority of women wear burkha, then by that logic women who show their faces get raped, even though they cover they whole body including hair except face

    • It's honestly a tough debate... I don't have enough knowledge to back it up but I think part of the answer is girls taking action to be safe themselves overall, even if it's not dressing modesty. Going back to a thief. A thief won't stop just because it's the right thing to do, he will rob you anyway. So, what the solution for a thief? Stay in safe places around other people, stay in groups, and keep mace on you. I'd recommend the same for people like that. But going back to the heart of your question. There is no logic to why men do it. It's simply the lack of desire to control themselves or not choosing to exercise awareness of the situation around them. Some people just choose to act that way and it's very sad and disturbing that they do so

  • B. It’s never the victims fault.

And to answer, no nor would I.

  • Never the victim's fault. I don't care if she's chasing you naked.

  • That's terrible doesn't the police do anything and no I never have and I can't imagine anyone answering yes to your question

  • Yeah, this argument of 'its there victims fault' clearly shows people who don't yet have the self control or honesty to be respectable members of society.

  • I disagree with the sign... a broken face won't stop a rapist probably provoke them more

Killing them would work but you can break appendages or castrate them that is far better

  • anyone who picks A... needs to reassess their moral compass... and expectations for other people's behavior...

  • Clothes literally nothing to do with rape, its just a lame excuse. Some rapists even rape little girls.

  • 1) clothes don't repel rapists anymore than rotten food repels bugs
    2) I have not, and asking people if they have is pointless because there's no way one would admit to doing it in an online forum

  • Of course not! Consense is so important

  • Jesus Christ

  • A rapist is just a sick poor excuse of a man. If caught and proven by therapist should be turned loose in a cage with a bunch of pissed off AMAZONS

  • Of course not. But dressing scantily will get looks and maybe even catcalls.

  • I bet you have

  • What a strange question

  • As long as you have hangs out their! Rapists will always exists. Which country r u from?
