Incels are becoming a problem in the public safety sphere and are perpetrating acts of terrorism on the general population, especially women, at an increasing rate. Incel stands for Involuntarily Celibate. These are men that want relationships, affection, and sex but for whatever reasons social, physical, or psychological they cannot obtain this. Over a prolonged period of time their dissatisfaction ferments and eventually turns into resent and rage directed towards women which leads to violent acts. Now, with the background information out of the way explaining what Incels are, now comes the unpopular opinion part. Are Incels an indirectly created by women? For example, female hypergamy is a biological predisposition in whch the vast majority of women pursue only the top 20% percent of guys. In plain English women will always go after and fuck the top 20% of men while the other 80% struggle. The top 20% of men are literally drowning in pussy and affection from women while the other 80% of men get rejected and become dissatisfied, bitter, and hostile. It may sound horrible to say, but in a way through their own hypergamy women are kinda the creators of Incels. At least indirectly. To bring things home and paint a picture I am going to refer to a real life example. Elliot Rodgers was such an Incel. In 2014 Rodgers killed 6 women at a sorority house. Three were killed by stabbing and 4 by gunfire including the perpetrator. In his manifesto he states he did this because he couldn't get laid or obtain a girlfriend no matter how hard he tried. Maybe he just was masculine enough or was too socially awkward, but whatever the case may be there is a controversial hypothetical to entertain here. What if one single woman fucked Elliot Rodgers? Would it have saved the lives of 6 girls? Should women try to have more sex with Incels to "diffuse the bomb" and avoid these tragedies? Should women try to fight their own biological hypergamy imperative through conscious thought of it?

Our "instincts" are not as reliable as you would think. Women and men still select mates based on our hunter-gatherer past. Advanced civilization has only exist for a few hundred years now. Our evolutionary process in determining a mate have not caught up yet. Hypergamy and "instincts" can no longer be trusted. The traits that made a man successful back then are completely different now.

If humans developed with attraction spread out evenly, hereditary diseases would be more prevalent and there would be more physically weak people who weren’t as capable of surviving in a harsh environment. We would be in worse shape than we are now if our ancestors hadn’t considered genetics when choosing a partner. We do still consider looks and physical condition when choosing romantic and sexual partners, and that is how some ugly men become incels. But we also instinctively consider personality and material success when we see if someone is attractive or not. Being physically unattractive isn’t all it takes to become an incel- they also tend to be socially awkward, insecure, and unsuccessful, which are also unattractive from a biological standpoint. We may have different versions of these traits now than when we were hunter-gatherers but the instinct to avoid them has been preserved from that time.

Physical strength is no longer the main determinate of success in a modern society. Mark Zuckerburg, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, etc. these are not muscled out guys. The main determinate of success now is brain power. The nerdy socially awkward kid in high school that is really good at math and science is more likely to be successful than the musclebound guy, yet women still choose the physically strong guys because civilization has happened very fast in terms of the evolutionary time scale. Our mate selection process has not caught up with the time. Women still select men based on hunter-gatherer success attributes rather than a male with more brains that is better suited to modern life.

Reread the second part of my last reply and think about the kind of personalities and lack of material success (which comes with brain power) that many incels have. Even a guy who’s not conventionally attractive can get sex or a girlfriend if he has a personality or wealth that compensates for his looks. And even during hunter-gatherer times a man who was physically strong but didn’t fit in socially with the rest of the group or couldn’t provide enough food to support a family would be undesirable.

Speaking for some, I don't know or I don't think that one will be able to change oneself to an entirely different man. I have a natural personality and I don't see any need for a complete change only to find a partner. I'm not sure that it's self destructive for me, because there are always better things to do. 1st, assuming the 80/20 is right, there are false top 20s.
2nd, there are yop 20s that are incels.

an example of a false top 20 would be Trump. crappy personality, physically weak in looks and actual strength. quite mentally weak in the critetia set forth in previous comments. only able to "provide" finacially due to false wealth. yet is quite succesful with mating.
