Do you care about the opposite sex?

Yes, they drive you crazy sometimes. Some of them can go... you know where. But in general, do you care about their well-being? (As other humans, as a gender, even when you are not in relationships with them, sexually, romantically.)

[I'm asking this because of a comment by someone, and an exchange I just had with them.]

I don't care if you write comments and expand on this topic or not this time. Honestly, I'm looking mainly at the poll results here.

  • Life is not a game of competition between the genders. I am alarmed by the number of comments that say they have no regard for the opposite gender. Seriously? You disregard someone else’s life just because of one tiny bodily difference? You don’t care about 50% of the population?

To the girls saying they don’t care about the opposite gender, you don’t have any guy friends? What about your father? Boyfriend? Husband? Brother? Son? Any men you look up to?

And to the men saying this, are any girls your friend? Do you not care about your mother? Sister? Girlfriend? Wife? Do you look up to any women?

All genders face their own injustices stop categorizing 50% of people based off the actions of one. Could you imagine if we did this to race? How racist would we be? Gender is no different.

Guess what? It’s true, women face a pay gap, women are raped at much higher rates, women deal with pregnancy and harassment, along with a myriad of other issues at a higher rate than men.

But guess what? Men face their own issues at higher rates than women too. 70 percent of suicides are men. Men are murdered and mugged at much higher rates. Almost all deaths in war are men. Most on the job deaths and injuries are men. Men also face a myriad of other issues at much higher rates than women.

But guess what? Life isn’t a competition between the two. Many male politicians and leaders are the reason some women’s rights movements have taken off in some places and many women advocate for the rights of men in male dominated jobs and groups. Nobody looks out for just their gender because most people don’t view men and women as opposing teams. Gender doesn’t divide people. Politics, beliefs, morals, and borders do. There are feminist men and anti feminist women, there are pro life women and pro choice women. In all issues the beliefs divide us, not the gender.

    • Well done. I wish you didn't anon this.

  • I care about both men and women.
I exist because my mother carried me for 9 months.
I am the person I am because of the way my father raised me.
I learnt the meaning of brotherhood and camaraderie from my male friends. I learnt kindness and to understand people from my female friends.
So both men and women are important to me and I care a great deal about both.

    • Beautiful answer.

    • Thank you

  • Of course I do! There have been great influential men in my life, even outside blood relations. From coaches to my butcher, there always a guy that made my life brighter, or helped me through something.

And honestly, guys are pretty great. It's hard to explain, of course you can give cliques like their humors, courage and such, but just having men around, especially good men, it really makes life great. Also, we wouldn't be here because we need semen to make babies. But that's just one of many reasons why they cool.

Even with the many many many asshkle men out their (and yes women are just as bad) I couldn't imagine life without them.

    • Plus someone, who can't resist a big teddy bear! 🧔=🧸

    • Think you could have left off the "we need semen to make babies" part but otherwise, nice job!

  • Of course! I see all of us as just humans, and therefore mostly the same regardless of gender. Why some act almost as if the two sexes are two totally different species is beyond me.

I've been able to make plenty of male friends in my life (despite some people's insistence that a platonic relationship between the opposite sex is impossible, which I don't believe at all; maybe for some, but certainly not all) who I never felt any attraction towards, but still cared deeply about them as people. Same with my male family members.

  • Yes, I do care about men.

    I respect men.

I have met many good men in my life and some men have influenced me in a very good way. I have also met some men who were not good, but I understand that those men don't represent all men.

I care about men as humans, if I interact with a man, I will treat him nicely in general (unless I don't like him or he has harmed me in some way).

We are all humans, we should help each other and live peacefully.

  • Always cared and i will continue to care.

    • That's beautiful.

  • I do not care about genders, but I do about specific people. Their gender is absolutely irrelevant to me.

  • This question isn't black and white yes or no, while i care deeply for those around me, i couldnt care less for some random woman or man I've never met and will never meet. Karen who lives in the next town over with her boy toy, couldn't care less, my friends partner, I deeply care for she's like a sister to me and I'd fight by her side against the armies of hell itself if need be

  • I care as much as I could care about girls. I care as humans and I care more or less depending on what kind of bound I have with them and how strong is that bound.

  • I do. But I'll admit, I don't know much of their struggles. Just things here and there from what friends and family have told me.
I care on the fact that they're human, not necessarily because they're men.

    • "I don't know much of their struggles." Based on what you've written in the past, I must respectfully disagree.

  • I think we all care about the opposite sex it just we forget we don't know everything and dont ask each other how to help. In the end it leaves bother genders thinking they are compassionate to the other while being disrespected to themselves.

    • I don't understand the last few words.

  • I adore women and wish only the best for them, and when I have a crush on a woman I do a lot of praying for her too. I love women, and i do mean "Agape".

  • Yes, I do. I feel bad for guys when they say things are hard for them because they're not "supposed" to show their emotions, and negative things that have happened to them because of feminism.

  • after I read my bible and pray , I ask God to take care of the following people ! I include all my neighbors , family , friends and anyone who has anything to do with my family ! which includes garbage men and so forth ! for all these people and my late pets are important to me and need prayers ! Thanks

  • Of course I do. My job is pretty evenly divided men and women and I always try to help when I can and I've trained men and women for the job. For me the plumbing between your legs makes little difference to me, I'm aware there are difference and that takes extra understanding but all in all, people are people.

  • Honestly, just kids.

    • But you said you were my friend

    • @Aakash_Hangargi Ah yes. Brothers and friends too. How are you?

    • Oh i am great what about you 😀 how you doin

  • A lot of the time I'd say I actually care more about men than women.

  • Yes !!

  • As a person. Not as a sex.

People are generally cool until they aren't.

  • I care about men equally as much as I care about other women (and myself).

  • Of course I care about people if they are in need. I mean everyone to some extent on this site HAS to care otherwise we wouldn't be answering questions of total strangers on the internet.

If we care about such (Usually) trivial things with strangers you best believe we would care if something happened with other people in real life.

    • Good point! I hope the male user who said this earlier today is seeing this.

  • I have strong feelings for humanity, but I definitely play favorites, I won't deny that. I like women more, I'm willing to do more for women, and I think that's fair.

  • I care for women because of the simple fact they are human beings. I care about plants and animals too

  • That is such a great question!!! I care about every living person! I sure hope that others feel the same. The hard part is just feeling the push back sometimes from girls. On here I'm like golden, out there in the real world it's hard to get a girl to be comforable around you. Guys for sure in a heart beat but girls, they are no where near as trusting and it's tough...
