Do you shower or freshen up before sex? Why or why not?

A question for both the girls and the guys, apparently. I recently had a discussion with some friends of mine about sex and sex habits. One of the topics that we mentioned was showering or washing up before having sex. When I mentioned that I always ensure my partner and I shower before having sex, I was told that that was strange. It seems that most people that I know don't always consider freshening up before sex. Instead,  I thought  that it was strange that people didn't and thought that people only had sex without showering in the movies and porn. With me, bathing before sex is important. I am extremely fitness oriented and I run and speed train daily for at least two hours straight. Jogging, sprinting, speed training, etc. causes me to sweat profusely, especially during this hot summer. As a result, I make sure to shower so that I could be fresh. It doesn't even have to be a long shower, just super quick to be fresh enough for sex. I always saw it as disrespectful to your partner to want sex when you're not fully clean. Also, as a person that pretty much does it all during sex, I just can't bring myself to do any licking or sucking if it's not fully clean down there, nor would I want that done to me if I'm not fully clean. I get that some people are into natural body odors and whatnot, but I'm not into that. What about you? Do you clean yourself before sex? Why or why not?

I always shower before sex, every time. I'm sensitive about being "fresh" for sex. I don't require my partners to, but if I get a whif of strong BO, then I will demand they shower. I do enjoy the smell of "sex" when it's fresh, both men and women have their own range of unique natural odors, which I don't know as fact but seems like they are loaded with pheromones. So I don't mind others, but even a clean body starts emitting those smells after foreplay starts, so yes please everyone shower and show your partner some respect :)

I like showering before too yes, and my boyfriend. Sometimes if we have just woken up it’s ok but generally we both want to be clean before doing anything, I get too self conscious about things anyway so it’s just a comfort thing for me

I will shower before if I just worked out or am all sweaty and dirty from doing something like yard work - but beyond that I don't before because I shower at least once a day and am generally a clean person :)

I try to always be clean. But for me, sex has been mostly spontaneous, stopping to shower beforehand would kinda kill the mood. Scheduling sex is boring.

I bathe as needed. My presex ritual includes washing my head/foreskin/shaft at the sink to be sure it is clean. I do not do a full shower before sex. I do shower after sex.

Absolutely. I love the clean and fresh feeling that we both have. Also, being very oral in my sexual expressions, I do not want to be squeamish while kissing, sucking or licking any part of her body. I want her to have the same comfort. One of the things I love doing is alternating between oral sex and intercourse. To enjoy that without inhibitions, cleanliness is a must for both of us.
