Not all girls are lesbians, bi or even bi curious, but do girls have a greater tolerance for those of us that are not straight than most guys do?

I hope this isn't a confusing question, it's just that there seems to be a lot of guys that are almost violently opposed to lesbian or bi girls I have noticed, and not as many girls that feel that same way.

I think because so many guys are opposed to gay male bonding that some of that spills over to a dislike for bi and lesbian girls as well... am I close? ... or are the numbers more even that I am seeing?

What is your take on my hypothesis? ... or am I all wet? ... lol

A. Yes, you are right, there are more straight guys that look unfavorably toward bi and lesbian girls than straight girls do

C. No, both perceptions are wrong, there is actually a larger number of straight girls that dislike bi and lesbian girls than there are straight guys that feel that way

  • I think more girls are gay/bi/curious and more excepting than most guys. Even in my friend circle that is the case.
One of my straight guy friends is "okay" with it, he supports it, but it almost seems like because he feels he 'has' to, not because he really believes in it or is okay with it or wants to.
And he's the only one out of my guy friends that's like that. The rest simply oppose it entirely.
My girl friends? Most are either gay, bi, or totally okay with it.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • I think guys are more opposed to it then girls are because that's less available women for them... Bad enough they have to compete with other guys for girls, but now they have to compete with guys and gals for girls... Whereas the only time I have issue with gay guys is when you see a really really hot guy but he's gay, so it's like "damn if only he wasn't gay"..

  • Personally I feel like girls are probably more against gay and bi girls... Most guys either don't care or think it's hot. At least to some extent. The only real issue I every c or hear from guess about girl on girl romance is either a guy bitching cuz he can't get it cuz she's a lesbian or a guy bitching cuz there's more competition for a girl he likes.

I honestly don't know Wich side has a larger number of haters... But as much as girls like to talk shit on each other rather then how guys use there fists... I would imagine that a girl that's bi or gay probably gets more shit from females about it then they do from guys.

But that's my opinion. I honestly haven't seen that much hate for them myself unless it was like... My friend was fighting with her parents over her sexuality...

  • They can do whatever, I’m just not trying to see it or be around it. So i tolerate it and remain respectful but i dont support it

  • Voted A. In general women are more tolerant, even when it comes to sexual orientation. Some guys get angry when they find out that a girl is lesbian or bisexual.
At the same there are other guys who love the ideia of being with a bisexual girl because they have this fantasy of seeing two girls together.

  • I have no idea. Speaking for myself, I'm grossed about by the idea of two guys kissing or engaging in sex. I'm tolerant and support equal rights for gays. I just can't imagine doing it myself and I don't care to see it.
I'm equally tolerant about lesbian rights. But I have to admit that the idea doesn't gross me out. Maybe it is simply because I like the sight of women and can understand the appeal of kissing and making love to them. Two women is like silky softness x 2.
    Go figure.

  • I think you are correct.

I do not have animosity towards homosexuals or bisexuals although I consider those to be outsider of the norm.

I married a girl who was bisexual. She cheated on me with another woman. I know that many want to defend bisexuals and say that they are not more inclined to cheat, but. . . If I marry a heterosexual girl, she does not need to give up on having sexual experiences that she enjoys, because she can have all of those experiences with me. But when my bisexual wife decided that she wanted to have practice sex with another female, her choices were to cheat or not do what she wanted to do.

So, I would not date a bisexual girl (I have no fantasies of a FFM) but I don't hate them. I have some homosexual friends and I have a good relationship with them.

  • For some reason, a lot of men have seen homosexuality and masculinity to be incompatible, while women largely have never seen homosexuality and femininity to be incompatible. Of course, there is nothing unmasculine about being gay, and I think more and more people are coming around to that view, but societal norms take a long time to die out.

Younger generations increasingly see a man being confident in their own sexuality as masculine, and see the antiquated conflict between masculinity and homosexuality as a prime example of toxic masculinity.

  • More people are less tolerant of those who aren't like themselves.
It's very easy for them to judge, label, exclude. Understanding, empathy, kindness, and tolerance aren't everyone can do.

  • I think in general, society has a greater tolerance for a certain type of lesbain. You know the girly bottom type. Thats the type thats sexualized in porn most often. I think people are harder on cross dressing lesbians. But I think the level of intolerant is about equal in men and women.

    • Yes, interesting take Ms Kim, thank you :)

  • There are so many conflicting theories as to why but it's definitely true.
Wherever I go I can see two girls kissing it's way too common but guys that never happens in public and if it does it's a big deal somehow.
Now I'm straight so I don't really care but I did notice it.
I think porn is responsible for making lesbians socially acceptable

  • Well most of my female partners are bi and like to play with each other.

  • this is a great question Laurie - I actually never thought about it or noticed how people react until I 'came out' as bisexual a few years ago ! I don't know what I was expecting - but what I've observed is there are more women who frown upon bi women, and more men seem to frown upon bi men - while the opposite sex seems to be more accepting. I guess this makes sense - though I was mildly surprised to see the number of women who pretty much started to shun me when I came out - oh well...

    • I know, it can be sad and lonely some times, but when around others who are accepting or like minded it is so nice :)

  • I totally agree with. Feels like some men who hate gay people are probably against other people who are straight.

  • I think there is already a lot that men struggle with in terms of their gender. Allowing girls to by pass guys all together, I think, is saying no to guys and possibly giving them a blow to their confidence

  • Whatever the case, hatred of lesbian, bisexual and transgender women is fucking retarded. Hell. Hatred of LGBT people as a whole is fucking retarded. Oh boohoo. Girls like to rub their clits on each other. Who cares? Boohoo. Guys shove their dicks into each other's asses. Who cares. It feels irresistable. Our bodies are evolved pleasure machines, both genders, inside and out. It's OUR DECISION HOW WE WANT TO EXPERIENCE THAT PLEASURE AND WHO WE EXPERIENCE IT WITH.

  • Absolutely

  • We ain't living in 1940s so majority of people really don't mind if a girl is whatever. But there shall always be boomers and religious people who say otherwise but i would treat them as rare. Because just ask anyone who ain't and they will be like oh it's cool, or it's there life why do i care.

  • My theory is , who gives a fuck , you are who you are , who gives a shit what others think about you , like I always say , surround yourself with people that have a lot in common with you , me personally is straight but if I meet someone Gay or Bi and they are cool with me and have a cool personality , I don’t give 2 shits what they do in their bedrooms , now if it was 2 bi females I would probably join them , as for gay males and bi males I don’t go that way. But I am not going to be an asshole to them if they are cool with me. Someone’s sexual preference has no effect on me unless they are trying to force it on me then that crosses the line I am friends with a few Gay guys , they are funny as shit and they know I like girls so they know not to cross that line with me , sometimes they joke around with me and make jokingly flirty comments but it is all in fun and I laugh with them. Now if they tried acting on it they know I would knock them out lol

  • Lol just chose the "wet" option!

  • I don't want to see two guys kiss beyond that I don't care what somebody does behind closed doors is their own business. I will say the same two girls kiss is way different because I'm straight
