In your opinion, is sexuality a spectrum or is it black and white?

Is it a case of being either heterosexual or homosexual, or do you think everyone could lean more towards each side from time to time based on the person they meet (i. e. you identify as heterosexual for example but end up meeting a person of the same gender that really attracts you and for that period of time, you slide closer to being homosexual)?

  • For males I believe it is black and white. For females I believe it is the same thing, but making out+ with the same gender is viewed as quite a submissive action which is why I think so many girls find they are attracted (most of the time just sexually) to the same gender (some would want to have relationships if they were truly bisexual, but most of the girls I've met personally said they would hook up with a girl but not date them). None of the guys I have ever encountered (including myself) have ever considered making out with a dude if they were straight, or making out with a chick if they had already come out as gay.

  • It isn't for me to say about anyone but me. How can I know their life, their feelings?
I have friends that are all over the place with gay, trans and just don't know!! They are my friends, and good people with good values.
Who am I to judge how they express themselves and what they feel and who they love?

  • I think if people opened their hearts and stopped worrying about what is considered normal, people could probably fall in love with the opposite gender they are normally attracted to.

I seen questions like do you think you could date transgender?

a lot of answers are no because I'm not gay.

That is the people who are brainwashed to believe they have to be straight.

  • I believe it’s both a spectrum and fluid, if that makes any sense. On opposing sides you have heterosexual and homosexual, with bi/pan making up the middle. I say fluid because the middle doesn’t exclusively favor one side over the other.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • It's a spectrum. Just like some are only romantically interested in one gender, and only sexually in another and all other sides of it.

  • Spectrum for some, black and white for others. I guess it depends on the person 🤷 I'm married to my lovely hubby lol and would never actually be with a girl, but my webtoons subscription is full of Girls' Love since I like reading it.

  • For myself, it’s just a shared learning experience with my wife.
No lines are crossed out of the spectrum that we have with
each other. Therefore the boundaries and openness of others
    is left unto them.

  • Not sure about "everyone" but I do think a fair % of folks fall on a spectrum as you describe - and not from a relationship standpoint but purely from a sexual perspective. I know many guys who would not date another guy but do enjoy gay sex (either porn or for real).

I tend to shy away from labels because they can be misleading but I fall under heteroromantic bisexual.

  • I think it’s a spectrum

  • there is a spectrum to it, but many sources inflate that spectrum wildly

  • No way not me I stick to females

  • Spectrum

  • Depends on the person i guess.

  • I think sexuality can be fluid, so more akin to a spectrum than black and white,,,

But I also think people can enjoy same sex encounters just for fun/experimentation without being sexually drawn to that person as such,,,

  • Spectrum

  • I can only speak for myself when I say I am heterosexual. I have NEVER slid over to the other team's side, nor will I. That being said, if you play for the other side, you be you!

    • Sexuality can be a spectrum of shades of grey for some, NOT for 90% of the population!

  • Definitely a spectrum

  • Nope, I'm always attracted and stick to girls never to guys !

  • Sexuality is a very broad spectrum not just black or white

  • Black and white. You are either heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual.

  • No pmsl

    • Mean it's one or not right? In most things

    • Actually not for most people

    • Why can this be, what do them words mean?

  • your either straight, gay, or bi. after that its all just variations

  • Black and white in my case

  • Definitely black and white
