Is it necessary to have sex when you are on holiday in Bangkok or Thailand?

Going there and having fun is all good but getting laid with sex worker, would you do that just for the sake of it because everyone does so?

Of course, it's not necessary. But temptation lurks at every corner here :)
Bangkok: well - the city is so uninteresting that hiring a hooker is actually the ONLY excitement one can have there.
The other Thailand- see it like this: local 'economy' offers to tourists, what tourists expect them to offer.
It would be a nicer place without you, guys :) but then: we need some income here :D

I specifically never want to visit cities like those because the prostitution of women
It's such a terrible and lowly thing to do
If I had to be in that city for whatever reason, I would much rather go to a bar and make friends than sleep with some prostitute

I take it this is mostly intended for men, but you don’t HAVE to do anything you don’t want in vacation. Also please keep in mind that many of these people doing sex work are being exploited. Try to do extra homework if you plan on doing it, there are places where sex workers are treated fairly. May sound like a hassle but it’s a good thing to not give your money to abusers.

No, because nobody should have sex with a sex worker. A lot of the time they were forced into the trade by a pimp or madam. Even if they are doing the work voluntarily they are still being degraded. Plus there is the issue of STD's to consider.
