  • With rape you are forcing someone to do something they do not want to do. With cheating you are doing something of our own choice that someone else ( i hope) would not want you to do.

Adultery used to be illegal in many states and we were a much more moral country then. I mean instead of the 10 commandments it will soon be the 10 suggestions.

  • because in cheating it's still consensual sex , just with someone who's not your partner but it is still not forced on either of the party

Rape is when the other person doesn't want it and you are forcing them to.
Clearly one of them is a far serious crime

  • That's a good question. It would be nice if it cheating was illegal. Among so many other reasons, cheating puts the partner at risk of getting an STD if they think they're in a monogamous relationship but really aren't.

  • Because rape is when one's body is penetrated without consent.

  • It's all about consent.

    • The person being cheated on didn't consent to sharing their partner with someone else.

    • @Flower7 They aren't the one having sex. Are they the offended party? Yes.

  • Because rape is forcing yourself sexually onto somebody and cheating isn't really.

  • Rape is a physical act where as cheating only has an emotional affect

    • Dude what? Cheating is not a physical act? Are you crazy?

    • There is a physical element but it's not being physically done to the person being cheated on

People never seem to take advantage of it though.

  • Both are illegal in my country. Fornication is the proper word for cheating. Just talking to someone other than your wife doesn't automatically mean it is cheating

  • In cheating, both parties consent to sex. Sex between two parties, regardless of their relationship, is legal. Rape is when one person did not consent.

  • Because this isn't a heavily religious country like it once was.

    • So, do you find cheating normal?

  • With rape, one person in the act of sex didn’t consent. When one person cheats on another person, both people in sex consent. It’s that simple.

    • “ "Its all about consent" what the heck are you all talking about? Its only cheating if your partner isn't consenting.” Well the thing is that your partner isn’t involved in the act of sex when cheat while an unwilling person is involved in the act of sex. Nobody owes you sex or to have sex with you only.

  • One is usually a consent the other is not.

    • Not true. It is cheating if you are not with your partner in sexual activity.

  • Because cheating isn't enforceable undesired sex, also it's not malicious as most rape is.

  • You shouldn't be allowed outside

  • I also don’t understand

  • Cause cheating is not done with out the person consent.

  • I think they should both be legal.

  • Forcing someone is different
