Did people in the olden days really have mirrors on the bedroom ceiling?

My dad says back in his day some men had mirrors on the ceiling above the bed. Do you know anyone who did this or is it just a myth?

  • Not a myth - this was popular in the 1970s, and I've actually been in a motel room that had this as well.

The 70s were big on mirrors in general, and one example of that was mirrored tiles:

12" square mirrored tiles were everywhere in the 70s

And not long after the plain square mirror tiles, you had the "granite" style mirror tiles with gold-colored veins:

These ugly mirrored tiles can still be found in older homes from the 70s.

But, yes, people were WAY into mirrors, and without access to video cameras or cell phones, a mirror was a low-tech way to see yourself having sex, so that's what people used at the time. Lots of attic and basement bedrooms featured mirrored walls and ceilings, along with black light glow-posters and such.

  • I've heard of it but never saw one. I would be surprised it some people have them now days.

I put a mirror on a girlfriend's headboard when I was living with her. The headboard had a book case-like shelf. I especially liked it when she was on her hands and knees during doggy-style because I could watch her titties flap.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • A lot of hotel rooms in Las Vegas still have them. As for residential, I don't know.

  • I've heard of that in stories, but never from any person who's claimed to see one. Interestingly, it's usually someone super rich, often in houses where ceilings are so high you wouldn't be able to make out much detail. Kind of an interesting idea, though.

  • Back in the day (yesterday) many people did have those. Also some hotels. I would be worried about a mirror tile coming loose and severing my head (one of my hears).

  • A mirror on the bedroom ceiling sounds awesome. A more dicreet way too would be to have one above the headboard, and another on the wall past the foot of the bed so you can see each other fuck from most angles and see the reactions on each others face (or you're own). Would be seriously hot.

  • I've seen some super fancy bed stands with them.

  • First I've ever heard this

    • 🙄🙄🙄#virgin little kid

  • the goth girl i was dating when i was 18 had a totally black room with a mirrored ceiling. since then i have only seen it in porn but i think even in this modern world they still make shiny glass so i imagine someone must have it above the bed today

  • People still do it! I like it too!

  • I don't know anyone who had one. But evidently it was a thing with the swinging set back in the day. There's even reference made to it in the 70s song "Hotel California" by the Eagles.
    ...
    "Mirrors on the ceiling
    And pink champagne on ice
    And she said:
We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device. . ."

  • lol... I have never had one in my house but have stayed at a couple of hotels that had one. Kind of fun. One room I remember had mirrors all over... that was really cool.

Only have two mirrors in our bedroom - and one is on a wall above a bureau across from the foot of the bed... when we're on the bed and I am doing her from behind, I think it's hot to look over at the mirror every now and then :)

  • sounds both expensive and dangerous. one small quake and you become chum!!

  • I've seen a few houses that have that. I'd like to have that in my house as well.

  • I have seen it in roadside motels - but it was specifically there for the purpose of... Not classy places either (probably where you would go to cheat?)

  • That is not a myth. It actually happened mostly in the 70s.

  • Yes it was a thing, it's pretty hot actually, watching yourself having sex or even just masturbating,,,

  • Definitely a reality, I have been two tons of mentioned with sex rooms and they do exist

  • Not sure

  • Maybe back in Victorian times unless someone is ungodly rich

  • only pervs
