  • You can, but it makes about as much sense as a court filing a bench warrant on someone who died in jail. Unless you're planning on putting that on record because you're suing his family or something, how do you even expect it to impact his reputation?

Breaking news, dead guy made mistakes while still living, nope, not a serial killer, or as is trending now a closet racist, but he raped a girl.

Sorry if I sound callous, but reality is often pretty harsh, it's difficult enough to get a rape conviction against someone living, much less hope a DA and police are going to prosecute the dead to... what?

  • a similar matter against a notorious Tory supporter here in the UK happened a while ago, where the guy in question was a famous celebrity, it was found that he had connections to the politicians and the royal family, and was known by the authorities to have been using the hospitals he opened and managed to provide children to the paedophile MP's and wealthy elite and nothing could be done while he was alive as he had too many high up connections... but after he had died all the evidence came about and the victims were heard out despite being threatened to keep quiet before

    • Woah! That's so messed up...

    • @Genie23 yep but that is the wealthy for you, oddly enough the ones who covered things up are in charge of the UK government to this day

  • Did he die the day of the rape or the day after?
mid you waited any longer than that to report , you’re an idiot and should be unheard unless you have a valid reason for not reporting right away... as in you were held captive and were unable to go report it.
anyone who is dead can not defend themselves so you could by falsely accusing someone and 2 if you didn’t report it when it happened, you’re part of the problem.

  • Somebody take the wheel. I don’t want to sound insensitive but are you looking for them to arrest him?

  • Not really. It's a criminal complaint and they can't prosecute a deceased.

  • To what end? If someone is dead why bother?

  • The crime would be downgraded to "Assault with a dead weapon".

  • You can. All that would do is hurt his family and friends. And, what would you want for retribution for his actions? Whatever it is would be compensated from the family, not him.

The only thing you would accomplish would be discrediting someone that can not defend himself, to his family and friends. Be the better person, leave the family in peace. You know the truth.

  • Depends what you mean: report a dead guy for rape, or report a rapist on behalf of a dead guy.

If it's the first, sure you can, just don't expect the case to go anywhere.

If it's the latter, I'm not sure, you'd have to research it.

  • I'd say let his family grieve there is no sense stiring things up with his family you might end up looking like a villain.
I'm not trying to play down what you have been through but if the experience is still affecting you seek help to get you through it

  • Lol why, he's dead.

  • You probably could, but of course there would be no recourse. At least it would be on file so if anyone else came forward they would know more about him.
however, depending on how he died I might advise against it. You don't want to become a suspect if it was a murder.

  • No, because his crime dies with him.

  • Yeah, get his ass from graveyard to jail.

    • Lol.

  • What's the point?

  • No, but you may be able to file a civil suit against his estate if he had any assets.

  • Not sure honestly.
    @OlderandWiser thoughts?

    • Depends on the location. I would guess that you could file the report but what would be the reason for filling it?

  • Wasted effort.

  • Whats the point, he's dead now

  • To late, nop.
It will be an ussles pice of paper

  • Seriously?

  • You could, but you wouldn't be getting justice. You would just hurt his loved ones, smear a defenseless person's name, and regardless of his guilt; generally make yourself look like an awful person since you wouldn't be able to prove your accusations.

  • You can ‘try’ to file, however your roadblock will begin when you tell them they are deceased. Short of exigent circumstance they will politely tell you that unless you are confessing to his homicide, that taking your report would be pointless in so many words. It is nothing against you, just that the “State” already has a time and financial burden with pursuable reports. Especially now with defunding...

  • i can only think of one good reason to do this. if the raoe resulted in a child and she goes for child support or needs help with some medicsl issue
