  • That's true, it's sexualized and isn't even a private part. That's a really good point, now that you mention it. I'm guessing because a small waist is considered to be part of fertility. An hourglass shape with larger breasts and hips, with a smaller middle is supposed to mean that the woman is fertile and has a good body for childbearing. Maybe that's why a flat belly is seen as sexy.

  • as a teenager I hated school dress codes

  • No idea. It's skin, I guess?

Personally, it does nothing for me. It's just as 'sexual' to me as a female-biceps, -pinkies, -noses, or any other randomly-chosen parts that aren't genitalia. Some people just associate sex with too many, unrelated organs.

  • Ok I have a theory, maybe because they normally wouldn’t be wearing anything if they didn’t have boobs so that’s all you’re really covering like when women used to wear tube tops, it’s leaving some mystery so it is a little sexualized but looks nice too

  • Because it's the peak point of curvature between hips and ribs. In every sexually dimorphic species, pronounced examples of those differences tend to be seen as attractive.

  • Is it sexualised? I thought it was just a midriff.

    • It’s weird that guys sexualize it, isn’t it? Lol

    • I suppose for some guys the sight of any of our flesh interests them.

  • Imagine a girl with a fat belly do you find her sexy? No right?
That's why it is sexualized... It makes you look more in shape and attractive.
It's not just the bare skin...(Do you call your hands sexy? No right?)
It's the same like... why do girls find a man with abs sexy?
It just makes us look attractive

  • Because it is at the intersection of Sexualized and Sexualized.

  • Why care?

  • Because female skin.

  • Woman get paid for that to make it sexualised.
Why doesn't anyone blame women who act in such ads and think it is a great way to earn money?

    • Nobody was blaming men, and not all of these are ads nor are most the ones who are sexualized with it. Plus that sounds a lot like blaming a rape victim because of what she wore. I wasn’t saying sexualizing the midriff is bad, I just didn’t understand it. Don’t avoid responsibility for liking what you like, it’s offputting.

    • You had the meaning wrong. There is no victim blaming. I just said when girls act out in such ads and get money for it then it is okay but if men like it then they are being treated like sex objects.

  • Because they show skin, and that can tend to work on a guys imagination.

  • Because people try to make it that way.

  • Any bare skin that is typically covered tends to be sexualized.

    • Still weird lol

  • Im a tummy guy (as well as a butt guy) something about a stomach...

  • Dependant on culture!

  • Its skin on show

  • Cause it's attractive and makes guys crazy LoL 😂

  • its the (hopefully) flat plain between the Mountains and the "C" (sea). Either direction is nice from there but I've always preferred the beach to the mountains

  • It is pretty much a bridge between the two most sexualized areas of the female body, and it also plays a large role in defining overall body shape based on its curves.
