So, true story here. There are two mountain lions that will occasionally be not too far from where I live. Like sometimes I will hear them at night. And if you have never heard them at night when you are half asleep that shit will wake you up real quick.

Sometimes when I am out hiking, or running one of the local trails I will see a paw print. Looks just like a house cat print but huge. But the closest I ever got to one was early December 2019. Just finished finals and was out on like a 20 mile hike to blow off some steam and get my sweat on after dealing with studying for two weeks straight. It was kinda foggy and started raining near the end of the trail. At one point on the trail I hear something move off to the side in the bushes, not exactly unusually. Plenty of birds, squirrels, rabbits, lizards, whatever around here. But this was much larger, wasn’t a deer because it wasn’t running away, just adjusting itself maybe 10 feet from me. By the time I get down the hill and get home I look up wildlife sightings in the area yup… mother fucking mountain lion was in the exact same location as me. (Turns out they have them tagged)
Long story short, if it wanted me dead I would be dead.1 1 0 0You should keep it as a house pet like the Russians do lol

Nope. I come across mountain lions when I hike, not a big deal.

I wouldn't pee myself, I'm not exactly prone to peeing myself, but I'd freeze. I might instinctively run but I know that's not the optimal thing to do. The right thing is to announce your presence to the foul beast and start backing away slowly, making yourself big.
0 1 0 0That cougar looks hungry
He actually seems quite unaware of my presence, which is bad, because my scent might be downwind of him. That's how many attacks occur. If you announce your presence, the cougar would be alerted. Depending on how hungry the cougar is, or territorial, it might try to approach you. You need to make it clear that while you're not here to intrude on his territory, you're not easy prey, either.
no. i'd make myself as tall as i can, move hecticly and menacingly and scream as loud as i can. cat ears are very sensitive.
0 1 0 0Show them who is the man lol
Naw it's more about not getting killed and running away doesn't seem like an option, cause I think it will be faster.
It's more a desperate last ditch attempt... It may not work.

9 1The ammonia would definitely attract their attention if they hadn't already spotted me. Best thing I can think of would be to freeze if unseen or make yourself look big waving your arms around angrily if they see and come towards you.
0 1 0 0Lol people keep them as pets
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkO7be9Dn2cPeople have kept tigers, chimpanzees, bears, and wolves as pets to name a few XD doesn't mean it's safe. That animal might love you but just like any teenager when they grow up and become hormonal and frustrated you better treat them with respect or they could seriously injure you.
Wow lol at those arms 😳😳
0 1 0 0Must be a super strong cougar, is it on steroids lol
Nah I'm barely a snack, probably nor worth eating.
0 1 0 0Keep a cougar as a pet

Ah YES I would pee myself assuming it happened as a complete surprise. I would have to guess that it doesn't respond to "here kitty kitty" too well.
0 1 0 0Maybe this cougar responds to here kitty kitty

One time I went on a sunrise hike with my friends and one of them caught sight of glowing eyes a bit off the trail (it was still super dark). We live in mountain lion country, and there was a news story about a guy fighting one off just a couple weeks before. My friends were terrified that it was a mountain lion and wanted to turn around immediately. Me being me, I took my flashlight and went up the trail more to get closer, check it out and see what we were dealing with. It was just deer.
I wouldn't piss myself, I'd probably just do something a little dumb. I'd rather know what I'm up against than run down the trail with an unidentified animal chasing me down.0 1 0 0Pee myself? Nah. I'd full on shit myself.
0 1 0 0No, I’ll shoot it.
0 1 0 0And make fur coats and fur boots
Probably not. More liable to just sell the pelt
Or keep it as a pet like the Russians do lol
