This Religious Articles States Looking at Pornography is Wrong. Why Do You Think It States That? Do You Agree?

The article states:

“When your parents were your age, people who wanted to view pornography had to search for it. Today, it seems, pornography searches for you.

In view of its prevalence, you might wonder, ‘Is pornography really all that bad?’ The answer is yes! Pornography demeans both those who take part in it and those who look at it, and it’s often a stepping-stone to committing sexual sins.

Viewing pornography can become a habit with long-lasting, devastating effects. For example, consider a man named Jeff who even after 14 years of being free of pornography admitted: “It’s a daily battle. The desire, although much more subdued, is still there. The curiosity is still there. The images are still there. I wish I’d never started down this hideous path. It seemed so harmless at first. But now I know better. Pornography is damaging, it is perverse, and it is demeaning to all parties concerned. Despite what its proponents may claim, there is nothing—absolutely nothing—positive about pornography.”

Pornography is nothing less than a satanic attempt to degrade something that God created to be honorable. Understanding pornography in this light will help you to “hate what is bad.”—Psalm 97:10.

Pornography destroys marriages. It devalues those depicted in it. It debases the person who views it. For good reason, the Bible says: “Shrewd is the one that has seen the calamity and proceeds to conceal himself.” (Proverbs 22:3)

Be assured that you can succeed in your fight to steer clear of pornography. In fact, each time you avoid it, you have won a significant victory. “Deaden, therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”—Colossians 3:5.”

  • Yeah, in my eyes it's the work of the devil that leads one to look for it and I agree nowadays that porn comes for you cause people to receive it on their Facebook pages or even in their emails and the thing one never signed up to receive it. But there is one Ad-blocker called uBlock and it works for Chrome and Firefox and it blocks one from going to websites that could be deemed as dangerous and could ruin one's computer.

    • Thanks For Most Helpful Guy:)

    • You're welcome.

  • My views are that pornography is powerful and not reality, so you must be very careful to not be consumed/warped by it

  • No, sex and nudity are normal and natural and never to be ashamed of

This Religious Articles States Looking at Pornography is Wrong. Why Do You Think It States That? Do You Agree?
  • Why do I think a religious article condemns pornography? Seems pretty expected and straightforward.

No I don't agree. Reasonable points can be made to suggest that it's no different to a drug for many people, and that it requires responsible use, but porn is an issue where people have very heavy biases and secret motivations for opposing it. Very few people oppose it honestly.

  • The only part of that which I agree with is the accessibility of pornography increasing over the past few generations. Like most things, there can be a problem with excess, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

  • read your bible and ask God if you know how to read

  • Because a sexually repressed flock is easier to manipulate than a sexually confidenr flock.

On the other side of that coin porn can become addiction and often can be demeaning to the actors involved. Its a double edges sword, sexual exploration in a safe environment can be liberating. But when it becomes habitual can consume your life.

Per usual though religion takes a complex issue and waters it down into black and white thinking.

  • You'll notice that they quote bible verses, but not scientific studies.

  • I think most people watch porn from time to Time. Besides is it a sin? I think if I had super power and could create a universe and an earth and people on the earth I would not care about porn

  • This is the religious culture that I belong to... My mom and roommate fully support and agree with this text without hesitation

  • Quoting the Bible is not evidence of truth so time that's all bullshit. It's extremely hard to show causation. Sure, people who spend hours a day on porn may not have great lives but that doesn't mean they their lives are poor because they watch too much porn. I'm not convinced that watching porn all weekend is worse than watching 18 hours of football or binge-watching a TV series.

  • The article is totally correct. Porn can bring out the worst in you.

  • I don't agree with the article. Though i agree that there is some aspects of pornography that can be wrong or cause harm in the eyes of the person or the relationship, the art aspect of the intent is what is important and often misinterpreted. Bible versus have been used for hundreds of years to gain favorable audiences and control those people based on one person's or one group's perspective of God wants. Remember that God never created us with clothes, we are suppose to be nude. It is not until we committed the original sin that made us realize that we are nude.

  • Because it's a sin, to do anything sexual, before marriage, supposedly

But also, because there's sodomy, in porn, it's also a "sin", according to the bible

  • Because it is lust and lust is a sin.

  • Because watching or looking at porn leads to free will, individual choice, and self-interest. All of which are against religious doctrines.

  • I'm really not going to pay attention to some old book when it comes to enjoying what I enjoy

  • It's some thing else people can be addicted to but it's not like that for all people there is good n bad in most things.

  • The basic commonsense says that looking at any illogical religious article that provides a needed facts or complete tactless arbitrary piece of shit is foolishness
