I think the ONLY circumstance where I could see this being a thoughtful gesture is if say a girl buys this for her friend because she is either sleeping around mindlessly and tells her.

“Here use this instead, it decreases the chances of you being played, contracting an std etc.”

Or if the friend is in a very toxic relationship where she falls back for the guy after she has makeup sex.

So she gives it to her friend saying

“Here, use this next time you argue with him. And dump him”

Not really, but i will sugest you to buy olso something more serios then the dildo, just in case they don't take the joke or don't like the present.
Tell them the Dildo is the real present the the second one something in case they dind't like the dildo.
