Why majority of society looks down on homosexuals?

I mean... It's their life and their choice.
Why not respect that, rather than trying to change them into something they're not?

  • Did you know that scientists have yet to find a single animal species where genders exist and non-heterosexuality doesn't? Looking down at gays is a relatively recent human invention Christians and Muslims came up with because you shouldn't waste your semen or something... ? Or because if I don't get it then you're not allowed to enjoy it? Lesbians also have to deal with guys not wanting to accept that there exist girls that will not go out with them.
People always look down upon those who they don't understand unfortunately, they can't comprehend how someone can be so... not completely identical to them.

  • Because when they think of gay sex that imagine themselves doing it and that makes than uncomfortable. So they blame gay people door triggering that reaction. This is the same train many religious people can't stand to hear skeptical opinions. Some people are uncomfortable knowing that other people running of act differently.

  • It is so interesting that 100% of people are "okay" with it. We all got our "things" we like. If you like the same sex, good for you. If I like BDSM clubs, good for me.

  • I have absolutely no problem with gay people, but if they put it in your face, like these gay protests and processions, like I get it why would you make it public with all the things they do on those thing. I have a couple of gay friends and they all embarrassed with these public stunts.

  • Being attracted to the same sex is no big deal. We are way too stuck up and conservative in the U. S. As long as someone is happy who cares who they have sex with?

  • Because the majority of people are just idiots. I have no problems with homosexuals and honestly one of My friends is gay but He's one of the funniest people to be around. Now from personal experience though I don't like lesbians because those women are just evil hateful monsters whom take great pleasure in destroying relationships.

  • I consider homosexuality to be on the minimum aberrant behavior and probably a form of mental illness. I am tolerant of it so long as that behavior does not interfere with my Liberty in any way.

    • When has it ever interfered with your liberty in any way? Unless you imagine you have a right to pretend homosexually doesn't exist.

    • @slatyb They have not as far as I know. If it stays that way, I have no problem with it. Bear in mind that includes my choices and actions within my rights and how my money is spent.

    • No one gets full control over how their tax dollars are spent. My tax dollars are spent for many things I don’t support but that doesn’t make me angry with individual group members. I’m opposed to militarizing the police but I’m not angry with police officers in general. I think that many weapons programs are wasteful but I’m not angry with all members of the armed forces.

  • I don't look down on homosexuals I just don't agree with what they practice nor do I want it shoved down my throat or into every aspect of my life I also feel like it's way to politicized. but I have no issues with the people themselves.

That's how I feel about it.

    • That's good

    • Yup.

  • 15 percent as of this post is not a majority.

You live in Canada, homosexual activities have been legal there for 50 years, so you are kinda late to the party.

Im not sure where you get this idea from that a majority are against it?

    • Uhh... First of... I'm not Canadian. And secondly... it's just an open question based on observations I've seen in some parts of the world
