What is primal instincts interpreted as?

I once was talking to a friend saying that i use primal instincts to drive me I meant food and shelter there were some people that overheard and starting making kissing noises every time they saw me after that day? I think this could be why what could this have been interpreted as? I think I have an idea but I'm still curious.
