Antidepressants and sex?

My girlfriend uses antidepressants and I've heard that it kills the sex drive
I'm not saying that she should stop using them or anything I know they help her and I'm not gonna tell her to do anything about it but I'm asking tho
Does that mean she never gets turned on or wants to have sex with me?
Like not even think about it?

They can depending on how strong the dosages it's basically it makes you not think about it. She should still be able to get aroused but dont be shocked if she doesn't initiate it. She also may have a hard time reaching orgasm. I know I did when I was on them which was frustrating to say the least.
But yeah. If she's supposed to be on them she deff should stay on them. Relax and be patient but be open with her. She can't be selfish , u have needs too. Maybe she can agree to a hand job or blow job if she just can't get into it.

  Yeah about that She told me she doesn't like talking about sexual stuff so we kinda never talk about it she said she gets uncomfortable A few days ago she said she hates the word arouse cuz its sexual I mean does that mean she never wants to try it?

  If this is a fairly new relationship I would consider the eject button. It would just be easier then struggling on to eventually split up. You'll both be much happier. You can find an open , more sexual person and her next partner will not have known how she was before the meds so he will have already accepted it as the norm

  Yeah I think her ex hurt her a lot and he used to send her porn in their first days together so that effected her a lot He made her feel so bad she actually wanted to commit suicide I think that might be the reason behind it We've been together for 4 months and I feel a really good connection with her I don't intend to leave her I don't really blame her for feeling this way but do you think it might be always like this? Like never actually have any sexual connection?

  I feel bad for her. Sounds like she should work on herself and you my friend should run! Sorry. I don't mean to be harsh this is all too much for this new of a relationship. Do you really want all this drama. She really has no buisness being in a relationship rn sounds like it.

I take antidepressants and they have no affect on my sex drive. It will affect each person differently and also change depending on the particular medication but in my experience, it hasn't made me disinterested in sex.

Some SSRIs can kill libido its a commom side affect of antindepressants and i doubt this is permanent

  She suffers from severe anxiety and depression Does everyone get better and come off the meds after a while?

  Its impossible to tell each case of depression is different. She will always need some form of help as depression if its sevre can be a lifelong battle. She might get around to not needing pills Best combo i hear is a mixture of pills combined with therapy. You have to be patient things like this dont just get better

  As hard as it is for you not having sex. Its harder for her, she has that combined with the effects of depression which are not nice. Not sure how well informed you are on the subject, maybe reading up on it may help you connect with her on a deeper level Trust me depression is not fun. I only have a mild case unfunded some days for me can be very unfun

  Yeah I'm not gonna force it on her or make her feel guilty or anything I'm gonna be patient and see how things go I'll try to help instead of making her feel bad about it

  As a not of caution. Sometimes they might not want help especially with anxiety having more than just herself there might make it so she can't focus or be calm I strongly advise educating yourself on depression and anxiety for her benefit and safety. The earlier you can notice when a panic attack might happen for example is better Also on the more morbid side of things you'll be able to pickup on signs she might be spiralling downwards into a self harm or suicide pit

  Sometimes all someone needs is someone to understamd what they are going through and not try to fix it or them I myself am like that i hate being given pity by people if someone just understands me and why i am the way i am and accepts that thats better. Obviously try to make me be the best version of me i can

  Yeah thats actually what I try to do She also has rocd so she has doubts every now and again And I've heard trying to reassure it makes it worse so I always try to remind her that I'm here for her and that those thoughts aren't her they're just thoughts and stuff like that I try to support her the best I can

  Reassurance sometimes does make it worse. This is were you need to developma sixth sense for her triggers and what you should and shouldn't say

Ask her to ask her doctor for an antidepressant that doesn't cause this. Wellbutrin is one.
