Anyone from that period heard of Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols. Unless they were pretty isolated musically. That doesn't mean people like them, but they should at least have heard of them. That was during the dark ages of modern music.

The sex pistols were the most iconic and pioneering group for the punk movement. So unless someone lived in a cave, you’d have to really be out of the loop not to have heard of them. “sid and nancy” have been a pop culture reference for 40 years.
