if it was by her own choice she sounds like an ideal. in todays age on hookups and one night stands. it is becoming more rare for people to wait that long by choice. I like to date a girl with a lower partner count. because they tend not to judge you. based on a long list of former partners. can't get much lower the zero really. but those girls are also looking for a legit exclusive relationship more often. which is what I would rather be in myself. since I do not engage in hookup or one night stand culture either. I believe the modern internet, modern dating apps/sites, modern social media and modern smart phones. have ruined the dating pool in many ways. by making it easier to cheat on a partner, inflating egos for some and more people are insecure about their looks.

My girlfriend was a virgin when I met her. I respected it if that is what she wanted. When I found out it just hadn't happened yet and she had a guy (who was only ever going to be a friend) back out at the last moment, I felt there was nothing seriously wrong with being the one.

Since she wasn't holding out for The One or for religious reasons, I let her know what she was missing and didn't want her to miss out any more than necessary. I think she thought I over sold how great it is, but now she agrees.

So if the first time is important to you or the first one has to be very serious, then hold out. Otherwise, life is too short. She is really making up for lost time, so I giver her all she wants/needs.

Nothing negative at all. I find it uncommon these days because the trend is to pressure girls to give it up by 16-17. I would guess someone of that age, late 20s, is waiting for marriage.
