Why are people so grossed out by body hair?

I saw this question earlier asking about a natural bush on a woman and the responses kinda suprised me. A LOT of the women were saying "ewww" and saying its gross, a few men were saying similar things but I noticed it was mostly women. I never understood why people find body hair gross, personally I kinda like hair. I shave it or trim it just cause it makes wearing bikini bottoms easier or if a guy I'm with prefers it, but I don't consider the hair "yuck and gross." And I actually think pubic hair looks more womanly than bare. I think having a preference is PERFECTLY ok, but I never understood the "eww hair is gross" thing.
Even when I was younger and had just started growing leg hair I had girls in my class and friends look at my legs and tell me how gross it was, so I took my moms razor and shaved it. Why are people so against something so natural?

  • Good question. As you already said, it's natural. Personally, I like a girl with a full bush, but I can enjoy it as well when she is shaved or trimmed. But my personal preference is a bush. Nevertheless, I can fully understand guys who don't like a bush and I respect their preferences as well. As long as it's kept clean, it's not gross. I can understand that some guys would find a full untrimmed bush visually not very pleasing, but even an unkempt bush can be clean. Not needed to call is gross. In the end, it's just a bit of hair...

    • Yeah, all the women that I saw in porn magazines in the 80's had bush. All of my girlfriends in the 90's had bush and it would have been considered very strange for anyone to shave it off back then. My wife had pubic hair right up until about 2010, that's when she started watching porn and immitating it.

  • I don't mind it personally.

    I normally go natural with a light trim, sometimes let my under arms grow out a little and may have spikey legs when I am at home for a lengthy time.

    I agree that it looks more womanly having a nice bush but it does not. make a woman who chooses to be bare less womanly.

    Whatever a person's preference is up to them and I respect that, certainly won't go "eeew" or anything similar to that effect because I am an adult. 🙂

    Some things never made sense to me like why is man's armpit hair more hygienic as only women are required to remove it and people only say eww to them.

  • I can't believe I never answered this question. I don't have a hair fetish but I do appreciate it. I just like things the way the body was made. To me, pubic hair on a woman represents female sexual maturity and fertility. It sends a signal that her body is ready for vaginal intercourse. To me it's very womanly and feminine. It also serves a purpose to protect the vagina and urethra from bacteria and vectors from entering. It's actually more clean than without.

By shaving we let our ape ancestors to turn with disappointment from not embracing their gift of hair that still has to grow back to shave off again and again to have good hygiene throughout our life that makes us feel healthy and confident for being responsible enough to do.

  • It is just that they are influenced by society and that it is learned to feel that way about body hair. Capitalism plays into this as well, making women think they have to remove it using products and services to do so. I personally think naturally hairy is best, it is so sexy, primal and feminine. Everything about it is better. Ultimately whatever makes one comfortable is the way to go, but I really wish people would stop trying to shame others about their preferences, especially one personal as this.
