I've never done it and wouldn't do it because I don't need to, but I can understand why some guys do.

The less attractive you are, the harder you have to work and put in effort to get laid as a guy because we have to approach and pursue most of the time. It's time consuming, and sometimes frustrating. What's more, the less attractive the girls you get laid with will be because women don't tend to have sex with guys lower on the rung of attractiveness unless they have a lot of money.

Imagine you're like a 5/10. The girls you're working hard to get laid with are girls 5/10 or below. Because you're not that attractive but "you'll do", they're not as horny in the bedroom and they lay their like a starfish. Or she is horny in the bedroom but that's because she's a land-whale.

But here's a hot slim girl with big fake tits who can suck a golf ball through a hose-pipe, and will fuck your brains out to get you to come back again for a couple hundred bucks.

I know which option I'd choose if I were that guy.

The lowest form of pathetic losers imaginable. There are SO many women with liberal sexual views these days, and it is SO easy to get laid it's not even funny. You don't even have to put forth much effort. If you are a man and you choose to pay a woman for sex, then there is something seriously wrong with you (both intellectually and morally.)

I try not to judge or preconceive, because you may never know the original reason, but I find it sad, revolting, triggering and a sign for a lack of self-respect, for both parties. It takes two, and so, I see both in the same light, but I would find it a lot more sad and revolting for a guy because not only is he using someone, but he is corrupting himself in the process. It's like, just because something is available to you, doesn't mean you should take it.

Feel kind of sorry for them, that they are paying for sex. It's really paying for brief companionship. I doubt many people truly want it to be that transactional. It's better to think/know someone cares about you. (But there are some guys who like having a good time, and knowing she will leave right after, no commitments.)

I find it to be a little odd. I do think somewhat less of guys who do it regularly. It just seems "low" to me. I see it more like a drug dealer and drug addict relationship.

I don't see anything wrong with that. The sex workers are getting the money and the guys are getting satisfaction so what's wrong with that. People need to stop calling them pathetic. I would rather have guys go to sex workers than using girls for sex while these girls are seeking for a real relationship. I would rather see a man pay for sex than to go out in the street and rape women. Lastly, maybe the sex workers satisfy them in ways that other women in their lives can't.

My best friend has gone to prostitutes. I don't think any less of him for that, but I do think less of him for cheating on some of his exes. He's good to hang out with, but I know he's not to be trusted as a partner, unfortunately

First off all, you have asked a question in order to belittle people. Not cool.

Second, you obviously put sex as a prized thing that must be kept for someone special and anyone that doesn't agree with you is pathetic.

Have you ever gone out for a meal? Why, that's pathetic when you could cook it yourself at home, you are just seeing chef's as objects to cook for you.

If you were hiring someone to move heavy objects around all day, would you higher and thin person with no muscle mass or someone who actively works out to increase muscle size? If you said the second person, you are objectifying them.

See where I'm going with this?

You have presumed that all men who go to prostitutes are married. You have stated that about 15% of prostitutes are male, but then haven't called any of the women that go to see them pathetic.

You are working on the premise that women who do the job can't ACTUALLY enjoy the job and that's why they do it.

Some PEOPLE go to prostitutes because they don't have the time or the inclination to have a romantic partner, some go because they will do thinks that the person would be to scared to ask of a partner. Some go because they just want to get some sex, some go because they have low self value and feel they can't get it any other way. Some go and don't have sex (imagine that!) And just want someone to speak to for a bit, maybe some empathy or human contact.

Depending on the reason they go, would dictate what I feel for them.

Some prostitutes do it for a feeling of power, what they are offering has people lusting after them and willing to do things for them, is this any different to what models do? Or what ring girls? or pit girls do? Do you look down on THEM with such contempt as well? What about female popstars that do lewd videos? How are they different?

It's more of a sad thing honestly. Dudes won't go to prostitutes if they actually got in meaningful relationships that they are happy with. Usually it's guys who either refuse to date or struggle with finding a partner and in turn are left sexually frustrated and unfulfilled.

Here's the thing, It's mutual exploitation. As long as both parties are in agreement it's really no-one's business but their own. It's his or her body (I'm not gendering prostitution) and if they want to use it for income it's a choice. If the client is looking for something and willing to pay it's again personal choice. I don't get why it's grounds for judgement, many ancient religions concidered it a sacred act (cult of Ishtar comes to mind but there are others).
