Superb Opinion

  • What young age are we talking about here?

Back in the 90s, kids in my school were having sex. I didn't do a survey, but things were going on from ages 13 and up. It's nothing new and has been going on like that in the 80s, 70s, and so on.

It's why Sex Ed started popping up in schools.

You're noted as Age 17, so what exactly do you mean by Young Age? Your age group? 15 years? 11?

Regardless, there are all sorts of reasons and situations to factor in. Peer pressure due to hearing your friends are doing it, so why aren't you? To be cool, but at the same time, balance it out in a way you don't get branded a whore or man slut... Or perhaps they think it's true love between their boyfriend/girlfriend and themselves and don't know any better because they lack experience, movies and songs tell you what things should feel and be like and your hormones are making you do dumbass things.

Or, kids simply do stupid things for stupid reasons, and those reasons usually revolve around the age old High School Mentality of status, popularity, getting known and what group you belong to... Determined by others. We've all been there.

I mean, your question is a bit broad in scope and requires a bit more specifics.

Too young, based on what? At what age is supposed to be the correct one for having sex and losing virginity?

And don't tell me one is supposed to lose their virginity when they get married, because that's not an age.

Most Helpful Guy

  • Because they're young and horny, and have found others who are also young and horny. Sexuality isn't the result of a magic switch that gets flipped on your 18th birthday.

Most Helpful Girls

  • Peer pressure and media make you think that it's what you're "supposed" to do. I lost mine "late" at 18 and that was still too early for me personally. But not everyone loses theirs in their teens. I know someone who waited until 20, on purpose, and even he wishes he waited more

  • Because somewhere along the line having sex super young became the expectation. Also, some people didn't have parents that were super involved in keeping them from making those kinds of decisions.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • i lost mine when i was 15, but it was primarily because i had a boyfriend of almost a year at that time. we slowly just started doing more. i don't think the media influenced me at all

    • PM me to talk

    • i'm not a high enough of a member:(

    • Can you go unanimously

    • Show All
  • I think there is a lot of pressure on young teens to have sex early. There is nothing wrong with waiting for the right person

  • It’s always been like that. But I think back in the day the statistics were higher. I know when I was in middle school, a lot of my classmates lost their virginity at 12-13 years old.

  • 1 - Failed parenthood
2 - It has become a norm for young people, otherwise they are "black sheep" to their peers.

  • Actually not as common as it used to be in some social circles

    • PM me

  • Bcoz everyone is free to do whatever they want

    • I know but why at 15 14 or even 12

    • One of the reasons are social media... they are influencing in a bad way to society and second reasons is that there is no one to guide young people what to do and when to do

    • Ok pm me

  • Peer pressure has a lot do with this, and it always has.

  • Don't know. Put it down to sex education and porn...

  • My 2 pence is that the media are pushing sexuality more frequently especially through chart pop and hip-hop videos

    • Ok thanks

  • Internet

  • Sex is less important as an expression of love.

  • sex ed. Parents that dont care. Birth control access for all. Popular culture. You name it. Everything promotes and makes it easy for kids to have sex these days.

  • Because mass media says it's ok

  • I’m 23 and I still didn’t lose my virginity

  • bc sexual feeling is very good, what else?

  • Some think they have found the right one, their soulmate when they are still young. Others, don't want to be labeled as still a virgin while most of their friends aren't.

  • They aren't. Age of first sex is up versus the past.

For most of human evolution, do you think people waited for a decade after puberty to become sexually active?

  • Because women are empowered nowadays XFD

  • because they are not circumcised
