Nope. Would never do such a thing. You never know if the person being choked has underlying conditions and it is easy to inadvertently cause severe harm.
At least if you are "choking" by pressing off the blood supply (around 5 lbs of pressure will be sufficient for the Jugular veins and 10 lbs for the Carotids in most cases). It is very hard to accidentally crush a windpipe though as @dsimus suggested (30+ pounds).
One can safely achieve the more intense asphyxiation-orgasm by controlling one's own breath, so other than for submission-play I see no point in strangulation.
Also I must admit I frown at such kinds of fantasies. Simulating potentially lethal violence during sex is far beyond my red lines.
