How transguys (female to male) cope with periods?

i have this curiosity and i cannot imagine how much hard it is for transmasculine people to cope with periods.

for transman:
Do you feel ashamed to buy pads or tampons? If you are dating, you tell you are on your period for you partner? How you cope with PMS?

ps: sorry my English, it is not my language

  • She would just cope with her periods like she had ALWAYS done. But the GREATER urgency is for her to seek psychiatric treatment as fast as possible, before she mutilates her God-given body through surgery or drugs. And if her shrink says he can't legally help her... KEEP LOOKING until she finds a shrink with the MORAL BALLS to do the RIGHT THING!!!

    • i have to say i agree with you (although i do not want to fight with anybody about it hahah)

  • If 'transguys' are dating then periods are likely the least of their problems. :)

    • why? lol

    • Because how hard it usually for trans to find a date and to keep their date around. :)

    • ahhh i see but i think she can feel sad with herself and her body so it is inside her mind not exactly about her dating

  • It would probably feel very horrible, and a bad reminder that their body isn't exactly what it should be. The dysmorphic feeling of bleeding and the embarrassment of needing tampons or pads would be bad. I sorta always thought of it as the male trans equivalent 2 a female trans women getting an erection and how horrible that would be.

    • ohh yes! I think about it too :( omg i cannot imagine how much hard it is, i feel sad for them

    • What's horrible is reading accounts of trans females and males who have had bad breaks and actually mutilated their genitals because of the horrible dysmorphic feeling they get seeing them. And people still shaming them knowing these things.

    • :O oh God, that's really horrible :(

  • Thankfully some don't have to deal with periods anymore. My friend doesn't which he is grateful for. I think if he did suddenly have to he would use the least bothersome method, tampon or cup for example that way he would only have to deal with it a couple to a few times a day.

    • If your friend is trans does he now have a penis? Not sure I am wording this correctly. If he has had the total transformation he would now have a penis. When he has a period does the blood come out of his penis? And if he has a penis he could put a tampon or cup in.

    • this person take hormones? Or pills? This person take of her womb?

  • Transmen who take T (testosterone) lose their periods. The other thing they experience is vaginal dryness. So sex can be painful if not properly lubed.
I can’t speak for them but I suspect that they just buy them the way the did before.

    • do you think they become sad or anxious when have to buy for themselves?

    • I can’t speak for everyone, but some women are anxious about buying pads. Buying something that you are unfamiliar with can make you anxious, like buying a dildo. But after doing a few times it becomes easier.

    • ahhh i see *-* i thought it could be different for transguys

  • They don't have periods unless they are using them at the end of sentences.

    • Yes they do... unless on testosterone which doesn't always stop their periods

    • @Neko911 To have a period, you need actual ovaries and a menstrual cycle. They may take hormones to simulate a menstrual cycle but, without a functional uterus, you can't menstruate because there is no breakdown of the uterine wall (which is the critical thing that happens during menstruation).

    • You do realize she said trans males... as n female 2 male... not male 2 female trans

  • i never thought of this lol

  • Maybe the combination of birth control and testosterone minimizes their periods to spotting

    • maybe spotting make that person sad as well cos man does not have it

    • It may make them sad but they already know that the were born with a female body. I suppose that they could have a complete hysterectomy to avoid periods. Maybe that is a regular part of their transition?

    • i think no everybody do hysterectomy

  • It would be just like any guy buying tampons and pads for his girlfriend. Not really a problem.

    • but in her mind she knows it if for herself, that's the problem i think

    • Not really. You just need to have confidence and just do what you need. If you allow yourself to feel that way then you will be embarrassed but i doubt the cashier or people around would really care. They are too focused on what they need to do.

    • aahh i get it :)

  • Don't the truckload of hormones they take basically block periods?

    • i think so but are not all tranguy that take hormones and even if that person take hormones, periods can happen

  • Well they are female so they will buy it like any other girl

  • They are still female. So it must be very confusing when nobody believes that they are transformed.

    • yea it should be so hard for them :( i think they feel bad and cry

    • Lol phew 😂 I thought you were about to yell at me. Yeah they must have it rough

    • It's hard to face the truth. Especially when they commit to having an operation and they still feel the same
