I've got 5 days until my implant is due to come out and im still having sex, is there a chance I could get pregnant?

Superb Opinion

  • Most likely still fine as 5 days is the upper limit sperms can survive inside the vagina and you likely will not be fertile the same day the implant will be removed - but fertility may increase rather quickly, comparable to quitting the pill. Better start using condoms now.

  • I believe the answer is technically yes. It's been a while so perhaps my memory is failing me. But I've heard, if I recall correctly, that sperm can live inside the vagina for approximately 5 days. Though I'd imagine it's pretty unlikely that you'd get pregnant. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about it.

  • More guys on here know what an implant is than I even know what an implant is. 🤔

  • Isn't there a chance that the implant fails and you get pregnant anyway?

    • Yes but its supposed to be effective untill the date it comes out which is 12th sep but I've had intercourse 5 days before, so im sure that the 12th is just a rough estimate, it can't be specific, nothing is guaranteed, certainly not a date! But im just worried that because its only 5 days untill it gets removed, that i could well end up pregnant!

    • Well I think you are right, the estimate probably isn't right. I think they estimate it so that if it was ok into 6 years then they say 5, something like that. Don't be worried about it, but if you are there are always other ways to help prevent getting pregnant.

  • Maybe... and given the chance i would say dont have sex or use condoms...

    • Honestly I've had it in for 3 years and now its gotten to a point where i just find myself forgetting about the fact it comes out in 5 days

    • I can see that, i guess its not as "powerful" so i would err on the side of caution... on a side note they great little inventions!

  • Not likely but possible since sperm can live for up to 5 days.

  • Yes, even if it is new. It isn't 100% effective m. The chance isn't noticeably higher, if at all.

  • Yes sperm lives inside you for 7 days

  • Yeah

  • Is the sex with the same guy? And nothing is 100%

    • Yes its with the same guy, I've been with him for 3 and a half years lol

    • Call your obgyn and ask them your question. 3.5 and you still dont want his babies thats a pretty big sign that he is comfortable for you but he isn't the one

  • Not sure if he usually ejaculates inside your vagina but sperm can live in the vagina for 5 days. If you don't want to risk pregnancy, I would not allow semen in your vagina starting now to be safe.

  • Always a chance, maybe you should wait 7 days instead of 5 before taking it out and just use condoms for now
