Gay–it is legal

Incest–It's illegal because 1) Inbred children have a lot of problems that they shouldn't have to deal with 2) They don't want to encourage relative/child incest as that is sexual abuse. Even if the child is now an adult, how does anyone know if it was happening when they were minors? 3) They don't want relative A marrying relative B and taking their money or assets.

Public sex–it's illegal because that's public indecency. Parents shouldn't have to worry about their kids seeing sex on the street. People who simply don't want to see that shouldn't have to. And frankly, from what I understand, most of the thrill of public sex comes from the fact that it's illegal.

Prostitution–it's legal in a lot of places, but it is illegal in most of the US because so many prostitutes are abducted and sold into the system rather than voluntarily joining. Because of the manipulation and terrible things that these people go through, it's difficult to say whether or not they became prostitutes by choice. If it is illegal, then law enforcement knows that every prostitute was either forced into it or is knowingly breaking the law, and they can cut down on sex trafficking.

Incest: we don't have restrictions that keep people with genetic disorders from reproducing. So why would incest be any different than that? If you're willing to make incest illegal because it might produce genetically troublesome offspring, then you should be willing to restrict it across the board. And if you're willing to do that, then you're basically engaging in eugenics. Public sex - you have a point there. While *I* personally think that children might be desensitized to sex if they saw it on a regular basis, and therefore wouldn't have a lot of the hangups (and asocial/criminal behaviors) that a lot of adults do, other people may not think that and it's fine. Prostitution: most places that legalize prostitution have systems in place that license and regulate the trade, which makes it a lot more difficult for sex slavery to happen. You're barking up the wrong tree here, and your opinion isn't well supported by evidence.

Inbreeding, unlike genetic disorders, is entirely preventable and an unnecessary risk, which is part of the reason I support laws against it. But that's a very small part of it. My other two reasons are my biggest focus. And for the record, I am against eugenics.

Whether or not people already have genetic disorders–or are already inbred–is beside the point. I'm talking about people who don't have these issues reproducing. Most genetic disorders originate from complications during pregnancy/birth, and while there are ways to prevent them, nothing is foolproof. However, this is not the case with inbreeding. If someone who isn't already inbred doesn't have sex with a relative, then their baby will not be inbred. End of story. Inbreeding is completely and utterly preventable, and that's why I think it should be illegal. There is no reason for it to happen. As for those who are already inbred, that should not be held against them because it isn't punishable for anyone else with a genetic disorder. For the articles: the second article was not the one I meant to post; I was reading articles for both sides of the argument to create my opinion, and I posted the wrong one. That's an error on my part. For the first article, you are right that the research is controversial, but that's because 1) this is a controversial topic to begin with, and we wouldn't be having this discussion if it wasn't 2) studying an underground industry is highly difficult, so of course the results aren't going to be cut-and-dry like other studies. That isn't cause to ignore the evidence. Also, you mentioned that legalizing prostitution can have positive consequences, but those positives would only be within the prostitution industry itself, which is an industry I don't believe should exist in the first place. So that doesn't add to your argument
